Highlights
Valorant's voice chat not working error may be caused due to faulty hardware, misconfigured settings or even server issues.
It is recommended to do a clean install of your audio drivers whenever you run into the issue.
Players should also check if their audio devices are detected properly in the Device Manager.

If Valorant’s voice chat is not working, it could be caused by an update automatically changing your audio settings. Some Valorant patches in the past have been known for altering user settings for unknown reasons and you can easily fix the issue with a few tweaks. If your Valorant voice chat is not working, here are a few solutions that you can try. If none of the listed solutions work, consider submitting a ticket at Riot Games’ support website.

How to fix Valorant voice chat not working

In some rare cases, server issues may cause voice chat to stop working. Always check the official Riot Support Twitter account to see if there are any ongoing issues. Here are some of the solutions that you can try out.

If you have auto-detect enabled for Valorant’s voice chat, it may not work as intended. Enabling push to talk can potentially fix the issue of Valorant’s voice chat not working:

  1. Go to the Settings Tab

  2. Click on Audio

  3. Click on Voice Chat

  4. Enable Push to Talk

The ‘V’ key/button is set as the default push-to-talk button and you can re-configure it to any button of your choice. You can also try adjusting your microphone sensitivity to see if it fixes the issue.

Update your desktop audio drivers

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type in "device manager", then select Device Manager.

  2. Select a category to see names of audio devices, then right-click (or press and hold) on your Sound device.

  3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

  4. Select Update Driver.

If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Reinstall audio drivers

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter “device manager”, then select Device Manager.

  2. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the audio device, and select Uninstall.
