The actual error message reads, “The game has lost connection. Please relaunch the client or restore connectivity. Error Code: VAL 5.”

So when you encounter this error, immediately check the server status of Valorant and see if there is scheduled maintenance happening. You can check the server status by going to the Riot Games Service Status website.

The error can also pop up when you account is logged into elsewhere.

Log out from all devices: If the error was due to someone else logging into your account while you were using it, you will have to log out of all devices.
