Overwatch 2 is going live in less than a week with a bunch of new Heroes, maps, and reworks to the existing roster of heroes. The game will be launching on the PC as well as consoles. Compared to its predecessor, Overwatch 2 promises better graphics, smoother controls, and updated character models. To support this, the developer has slightly upped the minimum requirements for Overwatch 2. Let’s take a look at the Overwatch 2 system requirements for the PC.
Overwatch 2 minimum requirements
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 series, AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
RAM: 6 GB
HDD: 50 GB
Overwatch 2 recommended specifications
OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD R9 380
RAM: 8 GB
HDD: 50 GB
These requirements are specified for the PvP Beta. However, the game will stick to these for the launch version. Overwatch 2 isn’t that graphically demanding. The graphical requirements for the game haven't increased much compared to Overwatch 1 which ran on an Intel Core i3 or equivalent. The RAM requirement for the game has gone up slightly from 4 GB to 6 GB. However, the download size has gone up substantially. Overwatch 2 was developed on the upgraded version of the original game's engine.
Apart from the graphical requirements, players now need to provide a mobile number to play Overwatch 2. In an effort to crack down on smurfs, Blizzard Entertainment stated in a blog post that it was implementing SMS Protect as an “additional layer of security is an industry-proven solution in combating both cheating and disruptive behavior, further protecting your Overwatch 2 experience from bad actors”. Starting October 4 2022, all players across all platforms, including consoles, are required to have a phone number attached to their battle.net account to launch Overwatch 2.
