Overwatch 2 Season 2 is releasing in a few weeks.
The new season will bring a new tank hero, a new map and a battle pass update.

As Season 1 of Overwatch 2 comes to a close, Blizzard Entertainment is giving players a taste of what’s to come in the next season. Overwatch 2 Season 2 will bring a new map and a new tank hero Ramattra to the game. In a post on Twitter, Blizzard revealed some of the plans the developer has for Season 2.

Overwatch 2 Season 2: What to expect

According to the battle pass in the game, Overwatch 2 season 2 will launch on 6th December 2022. Leading up to the launch of the new season, Blizzard will be releasing a gameplay trailer and developer update on the upcoming tank hero Ramattra on 26th and 27th November respectively. The Ramattra developer update is expected to be a 5-part series. Players can also expect a gameplay trailer and content roadmap for the next season on 29th November.

Some details about Ramattra were revealed at the Overwatch League Grand Finals 2022. Ramattra has two forms, an Omnic form where he wields a staff capable of dealing “poke damage” and has a barrier shield. In his Nemesis form, he becomes much larger and has the ability to punch enemies. His punch melee ability can go through shields and deals damage.

The developer is expected to also release a new map for the game in the next season. More details of this will likely be available in the 29th November update. It will be interesting to see what more updates Blizzard brings to Overwatch. The new iteration of Overwatch has faced flak from players for the number of bugs, hero disables, skin pricing, and lack of a meaningful reward system for playing the game. Fans are also unhappy with the developer’s decision to lock heroes behind the battle pass, albeit the free version. Many feel that making players grind for heroes in a game like Overwatch which lets players swap out heroes to counter their opponents brings the game closer to pay-to-win.
