A whole lot is coming to the game soon!
The next season of Overwatch 2 is still more than a month away scheduled to release on 10th August, but players are absolutely hyped for the upcoming Overwatch 2 Invasion with so much information already released by Blizzard.
It is going to feature a lot of gameplay updates, a new player progression system, and another new support hero. A few things mentioned by the developers are an invasion story mission, a special co-op event, a new flashpoint game mode, a hero mastery mode, and a revamped practice range.
Here is what the players can expect along with Overwatch 2 Season 6, also known as Overwatch 2 Invasion.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Gameplay Updates and New Player Progression System
There are a lot of things that players will be able to experience along with Overwatch 2 Invasion, which has been labeled as the "biggest season yet" for the game and it rightfully seems to be the case.
Here is everything gameplay-related that will be released along with the Season 6 of Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Story Missions
In May 2023, Aaron Keller (Game Director) and Jared Neuss (Executive Producer) had announced that Overwatch 2 would not be receiving player-versus-environment (PvE) Hero Missions which had been announced in 2019. However, they had mentioned that there would be some type of PvE content added to the game as seasonal content.
It seems like the upcoming Story Missions are just that and will be launching on 10th August along with Season 6 of Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 Invasion will be a continuation of the story from the Overwatch 2 Zero Hour, comprising of three different missions taking place across Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg.
The maps are going to be massive, requiring players to accomplish complex objectives, as they play through a detailed storyline, fighting enemy forces that include powerful opponents like Artillery and Stalkers.
Do keep in mind that this will not be free and would be included as part of either Overwatch 2 Invasion Bundle or Overwatch 2: Ultimate Invasion Bundle for $15 USD (INR 1232) or $40 USD (INR 3285) respectively.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Co-Op Event
A new co-op event will also be added to Overwatch 2 Invasion, a bonus mission for which two players will be able to team up on King's Row.
Together they will explore new areas of the map while guiding a TS-1 push bot, which implies that this could be an extension of the regular push game mode that takes place on the map but on a different part of it, in a PvE setup.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Flashpoint Game Mode
In addition to all the PvE additions, there will also be a whole new player-versus-player (PvP) game mode introduced to the game with Overwatch 2 Invasion called Flashpoint.
It will be available across both Quick Play and Competitive Play, featuring two new unnamed maps that are the title's biggest PvP maps till date.
"Teams will fight for control of key positions across the map called Flashpoints, aiming to capture three of them before their opponents do," states the developers.
This game mode will work similarly to the Assault game mode, also known as Two Control Point (2CP), which was originally there in Overwatch but was removed in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Hero Mastery Mode
Overwatch 2 Invasion will introduce new ways to play and practice your favorite heroes with the Hero Mastery Mode, which will provide training courses that are specially designed for each hero, even testing your skills with their abilities.
Hero Mastery Mode will have its own global leaderboards for every hero and will be launching the first course for a selection of heroes, with more to come in future seasons.
This will not launch on 10th August along with the season and has been postponed to launch in September during the mid-season update.
Overwatch 2 Invasion: Revamped Practice Range
Even the practice range will be getting a solid overhaul with Overwatch 2 Invasion, getting a brand-new firing range that includes dozens of practice settings and multiple targets to choose from.
These are the gameplay-related changes coming to the game along with Overwatch 2 Season 6 which is also called Overwatch 2 invasion. There are a lot of unique things that players will be able to enjoy in about a month's time and everyone is looking forward to it with bated breaths.
