Minecraft: How to Deal with Endermen
An Enderman is a neutral mob that can be found in every biome in Minecraft. They generally leave the player alone unless you look them directly in the eyes. Endermen drop a unique loot item when killed called Ender Pearls. You will need ender pearls to make Eyes of Ender which are needed to use the End Portal found in strongholds. Dealing with Endermen can be tricky, especially for new players. Here is all you need to know about Endermen and how to deal with them.
What are Endermen?
Endermen are tall black creatures which can teleport around. They have distinct white eyes with bright purple irises. They can survive in sunlight but generally prefer dark places. They avoid water which harms them and are occasionally seen picking up certain blocks. Endermen can spawn in all three dimensions (Overworld, Nether and the End). However, they usually spawn at light level 0 in the Overworld and 7 in the Nether. Depending on your difficulty setting they have the following health:
Easy = 4.5 Hearts
Normal = 7 Hearts
Hard = 10.5 Hearts
These are all the blocks Endermen pick up:
Cactus
Clay
Dirt
Flowers
Fungi
Grass
Gravel

How to deal with Endermen in Minecraft
Fighting Endermen can be challenging since they can teleport out of your reach when you try to attack them. It’s a good idea to have a full set of iron armor along with a shield and a sword. Carrying a bucket of water is also a good idea while dealing with endermen since they take damage from water. Placing water around your base or creating a moat can be an effective way to keep Endermen away. You can also use a carved pumpkin to create a helmet. Wearing this helmet will prevent Endermen from attacking you.
When an enderman is killed by a player, or a tamed wolf, it’ll drop five XP orbs. Enderman will drop Ender Pearls when killed.
