Lego Fortnite Guide: How to Obtain Planks?

As part of the collaboration between Epic Games and Lego, Fortnite players now get access to a dedicated sandbox-style survival mode with a huge emphasis on crafting. You will need to explore the grasslands, gather resources, and build various structures that will eventually help you develop a settlement. Although the starting materials can be gathered pretty easily, crafting items like planks can be a bit confusing, as the game doesn’t exactly walk you through the requirements. How to Craft Planks in Lego Fortnite?

Planks are key ingredients when it comes to building structures like the Spinning Wheel, Fences, and even Shields. It is basically the next upgrade from using regular wood to create various in-game items.

To make planks, you will need to craft a Lumber Mill which can be found under the Stations section on the Utility page. Thankfully, the crafting requirements for the mill can be easily acquired. You will need 8 Wood and 15 Granite to create one, and these can be found by simply wandering through the grasslands. You do not need a special tool to harvest them and you can simply pick them up by pressing E (or the console equivalent) and it will be added to your inventory. Keep in mind that you will first need to build your Campfire and Crafting Bench to unlock the Lumber Mill.

Once your Lumber Mill has finished construction, interact with it and select Plank from the list of recipes. Here, you can also select the quantity of planks you will need. Considering that this item is relatively common, it only has a 1:1 conversion ratio which means one wood will craft a single plank. The duration for crafting a plank is 10 seconds and you can even leave it on the mill and pick it up later if you are making them in large quantities. As a reminder, you will see an icon floating above the Lumber Mill with the exact number of items that are left uncollected.
