League of Legends Season 2023 Mystery Champion Mission: Daily Answer, Clues & Rewards

League of Legends Season 2023 kicked off on 11th January and introduced a new set of missions for players to play through and claim rewards in-game. Players have to solve and grind through nine missions until 24th January before LoL Patch 13.2 drops. The League of Legends Season 2023 missions have two parts to them and after completing them, you will receive a champion shard and the Season 2023 Kickoff icon. The League of Legends Season 2023 Mystery Champion mission has thought-provoking puzzles that players need to solve to progress. Here’s all you need to know about the mystery champion mission.

What is the League of Legends Season 2023 Mystery Champion Mission?

When you update the client and log in to your League of Legends account, you will now be greeted by a set of Lunar Revel Missions and the Season 2023 Mission. You can find them by heading over to the ‘Missions’ tab at the bottom right of the client near the chat box. 

The Season 2023 Mystery Champion mission reads:

Season 2023 Mission (Matchmade games only): Play 1 game as or with the mystery champion or Earn points from time spent playing and winning games. 

One of the two ways to complete these missions is to play a game as or with the mystery champion. To find who the mystery champion is, players need to take a closer look at the quote provided in the mission’s description. 

These missions will be unlocked every day for nine days, and will likely be featuring a new mystery champion each day. To those players who are unfamiliar with the lore of the game or are new to League of Legends, this guide will come in handy. The rewards for each of the missions include champion shards, blue essence, icons and more.

11th January: I stand at the brink of Infinity (1/9)

The first mission on 11th January was to solve, “I stand at the brink of infinity.” Aside from the fact that this is the title of 2023’s League of Legends cinematic, players had to guess which champion said this quote in-game. Xerath is the champion who says this quote in the game and hence playing as or with Xerath unlocked the second part of the mission.

Rewards: Yasuo shard and Season 2023 Kickoff Icon

12th January: Yet I do not fear the darkness (2/9)

The second puzzle on 12th January was “Yet I do not fear the darkness.” While you might think this could be a champion who has to do something with fear and darkness like Nocturne, this was a complete deviation. In fact, Yasuo is the champion who says this quote. Playing as or with Yasuo will unlock the next set of missions.

Rewards: Zed shard and 1500 Blue Essence

Note: After the second day, players found a workaround to completing the mission. The reward for finishing Day 1’s mission was a Yasuo shard and the second day’s mystery champion was Yasuo. Likewise, finishing the “Yet I do not fear the darkness” mission rewarded players with a Zed champion shard.

13th January: What lies beyond the shrouded path? (3/9)

The third puzzle of the League of Legends Season 2023 mystery champion mission is the quote: “What lies beyond the shrouded path?” The answer for the third puzzle of the mystery champion series is Zed. As per the theory of the mystery champion matching the previous day’s shard, players locked in Zed and successfully finished the mission.

Rewards: Sejuani champion shard, 1500 Blue Essence and Precision Icon

14th January: Trusting nothing but my strength (4/9)

The fourth mission quote is "Trusting nothing but my strength.” The champion who said this is Sejuani and hence you should be able to finish this mission by playing as or with Sejuani on your team in a matchmade game. After finishing this, you will be able to unlock the fifth mission in this League of Legends Season 2023 mystery champion mission.

Rewards: Pantheon shard and Domination Icon

15th January: I have found my limit a thousand times and still I press further (5/9)

The fifth mission is the series has the quote, "I have found my limit a thousand times and still I press further." The champion who said this is Pantheon. Playing as or with Pantheon in a match-made game will advance you to the sixth mission in the Season 2023 mystery champion mission.

Rewards: Wukong shard and Sorcery Icon

16th January: Every mistake, a lesson (6/9)

The sixth mission in the League of Legends Season 2023 Mystery Champion mission had the following quote: "Every mistake, a lesson." As expected, the champion who said this is Wukong. Playing as or with Wukong in a match-made game will advance you to the seventh task.

Rewards: Aatrox champion shard, Resolve Icon and Hextech Chest and Key

17th January: I will teach them to fear me (7/9)

The seventh mission in the mystery champion mission has the quote, "I will teach them to fear me." As expected, the champion who said this is Aatrox. As a result, playing with or as Aatrox in a match-made game will unlock the next challenge.

Rewards: Yorick champion shard and Inspiration icon

18th January: I will become what I must be (8/9)

The eighth mystery champion is Yorick as expected from the previous days' rewards. The quote for this mission is, "I will become what I must be." Playing a match-made game as or with Yorick will advance you to the final mission in the League of Legends Season 2023 Mystery Champion mission.

Rewards: Katarina champion shard, Rune Book Icon, and Hextech Chest and Key.

19th January: Why? Because I can

The ninth and last mystery champion in this series is Katarina and this was evident from the rewards from day before. The quote for the mystery champion mission on 19th January is, "Why? Because I can" and playing as or with Katarina in a match-made game will complete the daily mission.
