What is LoLdle and who created it?
Reddit user posted on the League of Legends subreddit about the Wordle-based game developed for League of Legends fans called LoLdle. The post read, “Hi guys! I just developed loldle.net, a web game where you have to guess one champion per day and everyone has the same!”
LoLdle has most certainly drawn inspiration from Wordle but interestingly, it has four modes to test players’ knowledge of League of Legends and its expansive universe.
The developer added, “Inspired by the famous Wordle game, simply type in the name of the champion and it will show you the champion's properties like gender, positions, species, ... to help you get closer to the answer!”
According to the LoLdle website, the game has been inspired by the likes of Wordle, Tusmo, Worldle, Cemantix, and Commander Codex, and all the data used in the game is provided by .
What are the game modes in LoLdle?
There are four game modes in LoLdle and they are as follows:
Classic: Guess the champion and every try gives specific properties for clues with green, red, and orange boxes
Quotes: Guess with an in-game quote of a champion
Ability: Guess with the icon of a spell
Splash: Guess the skin with a cropped section of a splash art
In Classic mode, players need to simply type in the name of a champion and it will reveal the champion’s properties including gender, positions played in, species, the resource used by the champion, range type, release year, and where they hail from. The color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess was to the champion. Green indicates the property is an exact match, while orange denotes a partial match. Red indicates there is no overlap between the guess and the property.
It seems like the community is digging this new game and is finding it unique. There have been other League of Legends-based Wordle-type games like Yordle, but they do not have different modes to keep the players engaged. It is also important to note that LoLdle is a fan-made project completely unrelated to Riot Games.
