Hunting Trip Quest in Escape From Tarkov Explained

Quests in Escape from Tarkov allow players to have a faster character progression. By completing these tasks, players usually receive in-game experience, money, and items. Also, they improve loyalty with traders, thereby gaining access to new levels of traders’ items. The Hunting Trip quest in Escape from Tarkov is a completion task given by trader Ivan Yegorovich Kharitonov also known as Jaeger. It is a highly specific quest that requires players to be precise with the way they carry out the execution requested by the trader.

Hunting Trip Quest: How to complete

Players should first be at least level 30 to start this quest. You need to go to Jaeger’s menu, click on the Tasks tab in the upper left and select the quest. After selecting, you need to accept the task by clicking the ‘Accept’ button at the top of the screen. 

When you accept the quest, Jaeger says he will soon be hosting a few of his friends and that he wants to go hunting with them. He adds that there’s no way for him to take them hunting with the MP shotguns and he needs his western rifles zeroed properly. 

“And we have just the client for that, his name is Shturman. So, test my build (Remington M700 sniper rifle with a March Tactical 3-24x42 FFP scope) on this scum. The scope is of very high magnification, can even count moles on peoples' faces, so you better choose a long-range position. Don't worry, I won't disappoint you with the reward, fellow,” he adds.

So the objective of the quest is fairly straightforward: Eliminate Shturman from over 50 meters away while using an M700 Sniper rifle with the specified scope.

The catch is that in this quest you have to kill Shturman from over 50 meters away while using an M700 Sniper rifle with a March Tactical 3-24x42 FFP 30mm riflescope. Not only is the .308 unreliable for sniping, but the optic is also less than ideal for Tarkov target distances. This makes for a fun challenge that can really push you into strange places to get the correct angle. 

Note that for the kill on Shturman to count, you just need to have the March Tactical 3-24x42 FFP 30mm riflescope installed on the gun, and not necessarily be actively used. As a result, you can use a ring mount that supports backup sights.
