How to Get Golden Guns in Overwatch 2

One of the biggest “flexes” you can have in Overwatch 2 is your collection of golden weapons. A lot of players earn them by reaching the highest ranks in the game while others obtain them through hours of grinding every day. Players of any rank can earn golden weapons in Overwatch 2 and it is only a matter of playing the ranked game modes as much as possible. When moving from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2, there is not much that has changed and you are still able to secure at least one golden weapon per season fairly easily as long as you play enough.

How to earn Golden Weapons in Overwatch 2

If you are new to Overwatch 2, you need to unlock the Competitive game modes first. To do so, you need to secure 50 Quick Play wins before you get access to the ranked ladder. Once you are eligible for Competitive, you can play either Role Queue or Open Queue. Once you get seven wins or 20 losses (whichever happens earlier), you will be rewarded a rank and you can try to reach a higher rank or simply get as many wins as possible for Competitive Points (CP).

Competitive Points allow you to purchase golden weapons in Overwatch 2. Here is how much CP you get for reaching certain ranks:

• Bronze: 65 CP

• Silver: 125 CP

• Gold: 250 CP

• Platinum: 500 CP

• Diamond: 750 CP

• Master: 1,200 CP

• Grandmaster: 1,750 CP

These points will be awarded to you at the end of a season. Do note that only one placement counts so placing in any one of the three roles in Role Queue or securing placement in Open Queue will count but subsequent placements in the same season will not count.

Aside from the seasonal points, you also get 15 CP per win and 5 CP per draw. You can purchase a golden weapon of your choice for 3,000 CP. So you need to get 200 wins in a season, which isn’t a lot if you are a regular player. You need just over three wins a day in a 60-day season even if you are in Bronze. Higher-ranked players reach the 3,000 CP threshold much sooner but you need to wait until the end of the season for the seasonal rewards to be awarded.

Once you have enough CP, you can unlock golden weapons in Overwatch 2 by going to the Heroes menu and you will be able to purchase it from the weapons section. Golden weapons are applicable to ALL skins that you have so you only need to get a golden weapon once per hero.
