Evokers in minecraft are illagers that can be found in woodland mansions, patrols, raids, and pillager outposts. They are hostile mobs and the only source of the totem of undying that can save holders from death. Evokers use two spells to attack; one that summons armor-piercing fangs and one that summons vexes. Here is how to deal with evokers in Minecraft.
Where do evokers spawn in Minecraft
An evoker spawns during the generation of woodland mansion rooms. They do not respawn after their initial spawn. Evokers spawned with mansions will not naturally despawn (unless on peaceful mode). They can also spawn during raids by themselves or riding ravagers.
How to deal with evoker in Minecraft
An evoker will immediately be hostile towards the player, adult villagers, iron golems, snow golems and wandering traders if they wander within 12 blocks of them. They will sprint at the player and wave their arms, summoning magical fangs and vexes. If the player is within a 10 block radius and the evoker is not in the middle of summoning an attack, the evoker flees from the player to avoid being attacked.
Their fang attack creates a number of fangs that rise out of the ground around the player and snap at you before vanishing. These fangs will pierce through armor, dealing 3 hearts worth of damage regardless of which difficulty you’re playing on. However, they are mitigated by Protection enchantments. Evokers will usually summon 16 fangs in a straight line towards the target if you’re within 3 blocks of them or in two circles if you’re further.
Players can move around to dodge the fangs. Summoning fangs resets the evoker's spell cooldown to two seconds and resets the cooldown for summoning fangs to five seconds. They can also throw out vexes. When summoned, three vexes appear (sometimes wielding an iron sword) and lunge at the player, turning red as they attack.
An evoker can also combine their two attacks in the Java Edition. Evokers may summon two circle fangs while summoning vexes, without any cooldown.
Evokers are generally easy to deal with in Minecraft as long as you avoid their spells. They are glass cannons with 12 hearts. They usually stand still while casting spells, letting you attack them. Their vexes are also easy to take out. While dealing with hostiles in the Woodland Mansion, the player is usually decked out in diamond armor, which is enough to deal with an evoker.
Evokers drop totems of undying, Emeralds, and an ominous or illager banner.
