Rabbits in Minecraft were added in update 1.8. These cute furballs are a source of rabbit's foot (used for brewing), rabbit hide, and raw rabbit in the game. Rabbits are a fairly common spawn in Minecraft, capable of spawning in multiple biomes. Here is all you need to know about rabbits in Minecraft and how to breed them.
Where do Rabbits spawn in Minecraft
Rabbits in Minecraft can spawn on grass, snow blocks, or sand. Yellow rabbits will only spawn in desert biomes. White, Black & White rabbits will spawn in the following biomes:
Snowy Plains
Snowy Taiga
Grove
Snowy Slopes
Frozen Ocean (Bedrock Edition only)
Frozen River (Bedrock Edition only)
Snowy Beach (Bedrock Edition only)
Black, Brown, Brown & White rabbits will spawn in the following biomes:
Flower Forest
Taiga
Meadow
Old Growth Pine Taiga (Java edition only)
Old Growth Spruce Taiga (Java edition only)
Cherry Grove
There is also a Killer Bunny mob which does not spawn naturally but can only be summoned through commands in the Java edition. You can also spawn a ‘Toast’ type of rabbit. A Toast rabbit can only be spawned if you name a normal rabbit "toast" with a renamed spawn egg or a nametag. When named "toast" the rabbit will turn into toast.
How to breed Rabbits in Minecraft
Rabbits hop around aimlessly instead of walking but can be lured by players if they are holding carrots, golden carrots or dandelions within 8 blocks of it. Note that you’ll need to protect rabbits from wild wolves, foxes, and stray cats which will look for and kill any rabbits they find.
Rabbits can be bred using carrots, golden carrots or dandelions. Feed them to two tamed adult rabbits and they will mate to produce a baby rabbit (kits).
Kits usually have the same type of fur as one of their parents, inherit the same type of fur as one of the parents. If slain a rabbit will drop the following:
0–1 rabbit hide
0–1 raw rabbit (cooked rabbit if killed with fire)
1/10 chance of dropping a rabbit’s foot
