Frogs are a recently added passive mob in Minecraft found in swamp biomes. While usually passive, frogs will sometimes attack other mobs. Frogs do not drop anything except experience orbs when slain. Frogs will wander around aimlessly, jumping up to 8 blocks high. They prefer jumping on lily pads and big dripleaves, but are not able to jump on honey blocks. Here is how to breed frogs in Minecraft.
Where do frogs spawn in Minecraft
Frogs will spawn in Swamps and Mangrove Swamp. They spawn in three different colors depending on the biomes they spawn in. Orange color ‘Temperate’ frogs spawn in River, Beach, Taiga, Old Growth Taiga, forests (Dark, Birch, Flower), plains, Ocean (Cold, Deep Cold, Deep Lukewarm, Lukewarm), Caves (Dripstone, Lush), Void and Deep Dark biomes.
Grey color ‘Warm’ frogs will spawn in Jungle (Bamboo, Sparse), Badlands (Eroded, Wooded), Desert, Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna, Warm Ocean, Mangrove Swamp, Basalt Deltas, Crimson Forest, Nether Wastes, Soul Sand Valley, and warped forests.
Dark green colored ‘Cold’ frogs will spawn in Frozen River, Snowy Beach, Grove, Frozen Peaks, Jagged Peaks, Snowy Plains, Ice Spikes, Snowy Slopes, Snowy Taiga, Cold Ocean, Frozen Ocean, Deep Frozen Ocean and The End.
How to breed frogs in Minecraft
You can breed frogs in Minecraft by luring them with slimeballs within 6 blocks. If you feed two adult frogs slimeballs, they will mate and the female frog becomes pregnant. The pregnant frog will search for a water block with at least one adjacent water block to lay frogspawn. The frogspawn will hatch into tadpoles, which grow into frogs.
Frogs use their tongues to attack and despawn small slimes, which drop slimeballs when slain. Frogs will also attack small magma cubes and leave behind a froglight block. When targeting a magma cube a frog will gain a speed buff. The color of the froglight depends on the color of the frog.
