If you want to appear offline in Valorant to avoid being disturbed by people on your friend list, there is an easy trick that allows you to play discretely. While there is no official way to appear offline in Valorant, you can still appear online to your friends. There is a third party app called ‘Deceive’ that allows you to stay hidden from your friends. The app can allow you to appear offline in Valorant by restricting connections to Riot Games’ social servers which control your friend list and communications, but it does not affect your connection to the game.
Appear offline in Valorant using Deceive
Deceive is a third-party app and Riot Games has not deemed the app unsafe. While you will not be banned for using the map, Riot Games may block the use of the app in the future. The app has been around for League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra and other Riot Games titles since last year and players have not run into any issues so far. It does not tamper with your game files and thereby does not break any terms of service as of the current version (v1.10.).
It is also recommended to keep your version of Deceive updated at all times to make the app work with the latest versions of Valorant. Not doing so might make the feature misbehave at times. Here is how you can download and setup Deceive for Valorant:
Head to: https://github.com/molenzwiebel/Deceive/releases/tag/v1.10.0
Scroll down and download Deceive.exe
Right Click on Deceive.exe > Click on Create Shortcut
Right click on the shortcut you just created
Click on Properties.
In the Target section, add an extra space after .exe and type Valorant.
Click on Apply and then Ok
To launch Deceive, right click on the shortcut and click on ‘Run as administrator’
Valorant will launch and you will notice that your status shows up as online/available but you will be offline to your friends.
To know if Deceive is running and if you appear offline in Valorant, simply check your message history and it should show a status message from the app. Always check for updates to the app each time a Valorant patch releases as you may need to update Deceive to make it work with the game’s future patches.
