Valorant Premier is Riot’s latest experiment with players being able to build their own team and compete in a tournament with scheduled matches. Riot has big plans for Premier with plans to set it up as a path to pro in future editions. Valorant Premier kicked off on 25th April with the enrollment phase which ended 28th April. Now comes the competition phase where player teams will be put into divisions based on their skill level. Here is all you need to know about the format and how many divisions are in Valorant Premier.

How many divisions are in Valorant Premier?

There are a total of 20 divisions per zone in Valorant Premier.

Once you build your team, the owner can enroll the team in a specific zone. The zone determines your server of play and match schedule. There are a total of 14 zones spanning across the globe. Once you’ve selected the zone, your team will be seeded along with others into divisions based on your average MMR (matchmaking rating)  of your top five players.

Valorant Premier Format

After the enrollment period, the weekly matches began on 29th April and will go on till 20th May, 2023. Over the next three weeks, your team will play up to two matches. Each match will add points to your Premier score. You’ll get some points if you lose and more points if you win. However, if you don’t play, you won’t get any. At the end of the weekly matches, the top teams in each of the 20 divisions in Valorant Premier will enter the playoff tournament which will take place on 21st May, 2023.

There is another test tournament happening on 3rd May, for which all participating Premier teams are eligible. The structure is the same as the Playoff Tournament with a best of 1 and a  Consolation bracket for third place. Note that this test tournament will not impact your standings, Premier Score, win/loss record, or eligibility for the Playoff Tournament held on 21st May.

Each qualified team in the tournament will start in the main bracket and fight for the crown of champions of Valorant Premier. If you lose, you’ll be put into the consolation bracket where you’ll fight for third place.

The top teams in their divisions in Valorant Premier will qualify for the Playoff tournament.

Once the Valorant Premier beta is done, the tournament will be back in July for the next phase of Premier. A full launch of Premier is planned for August, after the conclusion of the Valorant Champions Tour 2023. Following the launch, Riot has also planned an October phase for the tournament.
