Is Jinx a villain in League of Legends? Decoding her origin story
Jinx is a villain in League of Legends but Arcane shed light on how she turned became the character that we know today in the MOBA. At a young age, she and her sister Vi were orphaned during the Piltover and Zaun conflicts.
Vander, who was known as the defender of Zaun, sheltered both of them and raised them. The duo also had an adopter brother, Mylo, who used to tease Powder but Vi always stoop up and defended her sister.
While life wasn’t easy for the children in Zaun, Powder didn’t get into much trouble until the kids decided to break into Jayce Talis’ apartment. Powder got her hands on unrefined Hextech crystals, which exploded and damaged the entire building. Piltover Enforcers were immediately alerted and wanted.
Vander claimed responsibility for the theft and allowed himself to be arrested to keep Powder and Vi safe. Crime lord Silco ambushed the Enforcers and kidnapped Vander. It was then revealed that Jinx had possession of some of the Hextech Crystals and she wanted to save Vander. But things took a tragic turn and Powder ended up destroying Silco’s factory and Vander with it.
Vi abandoned after witnessing what Powder had done. She called Powder a ‘jinx’ and Silco nabbed the opportunity to manipulate the abandoned child and adopted her as his daughter. Powder adopted the name Jinx and eventually became a full-time criminal.
Despite Vi trying to get back to Jinx and trying to reason with her, things did not work out as Jinx started to lose her mind due to experimentation by Singed on her body with shimmer that damaged her mind.
How did Jinx get her powers?
Shimmer is a potent and corrosive “techmaturgical” serum that was being distributed in Zaun. Due to being subjected to experimentation revolving around Shimmer to save her life, the drug had long-lasting effects on her body. She has increased strength, speed and durability compared to normal humans but it takes a toll on her mental state.
Despite her poor mental state, she retains her ability to invent and create all kinds of contraptions and weapons. She can also reverse engineer technology and was the first person from Zaun to utilize the Hextech gemstones.

Does Jinx die in League of Legends?
In the League of Legends lore, Jinx is alive but her mental state is deteriorating. With Jinx being playable for almost a decade, even if she were to die, Riot Games is very unlikely to remove the champion from the game.
