Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 went live on 16th November 2022 and while many players switched over to the new game, some may want to go back to the original Warzone they know and love. Can You Still Play Call of Duty Warzone 1?
Players could access Call of Duty: Warzone as usual till 16th November. While launching Warzone 2.0, Activision temporarily took the Warzone servers offline as they focused on the new installment in the series. Activision said once the Warzone 2.0 ecosystem is ‘fully stable’ and after a small development break for Thanksgiving, they would relaunch Warzone 1. The game was relaunched as Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, meant to be a ‘separate experience’. Warzone 1 was relaunched on 28th November, 2022 as Warzone Caldera. Activision gifted Warzone 1 players few items to use in Warzone 2.0 for being continued fans of the series.
How do I play Warzone 1 / Warzone Caldera?
Players will need to own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) to play Warzone Caldera. If you own Modern Warfare here is how you can access Warzone Caldera:
Open the Battle.net client
Navigate to Modern Warfare
Click on the ‘Manage Content’ tab, located on the left
Check the box titled ‘Warzone Caldera’ and click confirm
The Battle.net client should now start downloading Warzone Caldera.
Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera is a separate game from Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. Player progression, cross-progression for XP and Weapon XP, inventories, Battle Pass content, weapons, Store Bundles, and other purchases from Modern Warfare, Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard will be accessible only within Warzone Caldera. Players will also have access to a standard Battle Royale Playlist. While Warzone Caldera doesn’t have an in-game store, COD Points will be transferrable between all games. Note that 2XP and 2X Weapon XP tokens are not transferrable between Warzone Caldera and Warzone 2.0.
