Riot Games introduced Hextech Crafting in League of Legends as a gameplay reward system. It offers opportunities to obtain event content, skins, and champions. It was released on the public beta environment (PBE) on 13th January 13, 2016 and was rolled out live in March 2016. For a game like League of Legends, it is important to own many champions and learn to play them well to excel in the game. There are different methods to unlock champions in League and one of the easiest ways is using Champion Shards from the Hextech Crafting.

You can unlock champions using the Champion Shard for the cheaper prices or disenchant them to get Blue Essence. Here's all you need to know about disenchanting Champion Shards for Blue Essence in League of Legends.

Disenchanting Champion Shards in League of Legends

Blue Essence is one of the primary currencies used to unlock League of Legends content, the other being Riot Points (RP). Disenchanting Champion Shards will let you get your hands on more Blue Essence (BE). Champion Shards let players convert it into a permanent for BE equal to 60% of the champion's price. This will also unlock the champion permanent. However, while disenchanting you do not get the full value of the champion in BE. It converts the shard into BE equal to 20% of the champion's price.

If you are disenchanting a Champion Permanent shard, you will get BE equal to 50% of the champion's price.

When players usually already own all the champions in the game, the only other reason to stock up on Champion Shards is to get Mastery Flairs. But if you do not want to unlock the Level 6 and 7 mastery, you would have no need for these shards. The best bet is to disenchant the shards to unlock more BE and use it for other content in the game.

For years together, League of Legends players have been requesting Riot Games to allow them to select multiple shards at once to disenchant. Currently, you will have to manually select each one to turn them into Blue Essence and honestly, it is a tiring and time consuming process.

It looks like Riot Games has finally paid attention to this plea and is working on a feature that would allow players to disenchant multiple Champion Shards at once.

On 4th August, Riot Games developer Jordan "BarackProbama" Checkman wrote, "Are you SICK and TIRED of clicking each individual loot item to get your ESSENCE? UGH. We at League Studios have the answer: Multi-Disenchant! With Multi-Disenchant, you can convert up to 50 shards at a time into precious essence. Coming soon to PBE. Lmk what you think!"

The short video clip included in the tweet showed how this feature works now. When you go to the loot page, you will see a new icon on the left menu. When you click on it, it will select all the Champion Shards available in your loot and will also show you how much BE you will end up earning from it.

If you do not want to disenchant a particular shard, all you need to do is de-select that particular one. This multi-disenchant feature will be on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) soon and this is right in time before the Blue Essence Emporium goes live later this month.
