Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2: When Does the Double XP Weekend End?

Update: Double XP Weekend Ahead of Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2

The developers of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 regularly provide players with Double XP events to help them level up ranks and weapon levels fast. Luckily, before the second season on MW2 and Warzone 2, players are getting another Double XP event. The latest Double XP weekend in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is currently live and will be available in the game till 30th January.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, despite its ups and downs, has been a big hit in the community since its launch in October. The game received its first midseason update and to celebrate this, the developers are granting players a double XP weekend. Notably, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 Season 1 Reloaded launched on 14th December across all platforms simultaneously and introduced a number of changes to the titles. During the double XP weekend, players will have the opportunity to pick up guns of their choice to level up quickly. Players will have a time frame of five days to work on leveling up weapons that they want to max out and gain all the attachments.

When is the Modern Warfare 2 double XP weekend?

To celebrate the new update, double XP and double weapon XP will be active across all platforms during its extended launch weekend, from 15th December to 19th December at 10 am PT. Notably, PlayStation owners were given access to double XP from 14th December until the start of the Double XP and Double Weapon XP events across all platforms. As a result, the double XP weekend is five days long.

This might be the right time for players to level up the weapons that they don’t normally use but are required to unlock other guns or attachments. Additionally, Modern Warfare 2 is also hosting a free weekend this week from 15th to 19th December and this is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. All you need to do is download the game from the official stores on any of those platforms. However, the catch is that only multiplayer content will be free and you will not be able to complete the campaign and access PVE (player-versus-environment) content. 

To download the game on PC, you can launch Battle.net or Steam and look up Modern Warfare 2 in the stores. Now that the free weekend is live, you will be given the option to download the game for free.

With the latest update to Modern Warfare 2, there is plenty of new content to try out in-game including a new weapon, fan-favorite map Shipment, and a raid to the Spec Ops mode.  

It’s not just double XP weekends or events that grant players double XP in Modern Warfare 2. Players can receive double XP tokens in-game, via tie-in promotions, and by buying the Vault Edition of the Modern Warfare 2.
