Beacons are a special type of Minecraft block which shoot a beam of light towards the sky. Along with looking aesthetically pleasing, beacons also grant players certain desirable effects within a certain radius. Beacons can seem challenging to make for new players, but they are worth the effort for the benefits they provide. Here is all you need to know about beacons in Minecraft.
How to make a beacon in Minecraft
You’ll require three materials to create a beacon and depending on how big you want its effect aura to be, a lot of iron, gold, emerald, diamond, or netherite blocks. Here are all the things you need to make a basic beacon in Minecraft:
5 x Glass
3 x Obsidian
1 x Nether star
You can craft glass by putting sand blocks in a furnace and heating them up to create glass. Obsidian can only be mined with a diamond or a netherite pickaxe. You can create obsidian by pouring water from a bucket on lava. Obtaining Nether Stars is the most difficult as you’ll need to create and fight a Wither.
Once you obtain all these materials you can create a beacon with the following recipe.
Once you create your beacon, activate it by creating blocks of iron, gold, emerald, diamond, or netherite and place them in a pyramid formation.
You can increase the size of your pyramid and the size of the effect aura it generates.
Creating a solid block will require you to lay out ingots in this formation, so you’ll need to farm a lot of whatever material you want your pyramid to be made of. Once you’ve crafted the blocks, make the pyramid and place the beacon in the center to activate it. Once the beacon is activated, you can right-click on it to open its menu. In this menu, place ingots, diamonds, or emeralds to get power-ups.
