Ubisoft's latest venture features familiar factions from Ubisoft's other games.
Here is where all the XDefiant Factions in Ubisoft's newest game come from.

XDefiant, a new 6v6 shooter, offers players a collection of Factions which include Ubisoft characters from the developer’s other game titles. The game pits players against each other where they have to choose a character from one of the five unique classes in the game and battle it out on a variety of maps. Here are all the Factions and the Ubisoft Characters in XDefiant.

XDefiant Factions

XDefiant has a number of factions to choose from for different play styles. Each faction has a unique set of passives, activated abilities, and a game-changing Ultra. Here are all the factions currently in the game:

  • Libertad - Far Cry

  • Phantoms - Ghost Recon

  • Cleaners -  The Division

  • Elechon - Splinter Cell

  • DedSec - Watch Dogs

The Libertad is from Far Cry 6. They play the role of healers.

The members of Libertad from Far Cry 6 are a rebel group in Yara fighting against the military dictatorship under President Antón Castillo. The group was under the leadership of Clara García during the events of Far Cry 6.

In XDefiant, Libertad are medics, thanks to BioVida therapies they’ve adapted for battlefield use. Libertad abilities are as follows:

Ultra: Médico Supremo
The Médico backpack gives allies health and healing boost for a short period of time.

Passive Trait: Espíritu de Libertad
Passively heals you and nearby allies.

Ability: El Remedio
Launches a healing canister on an area which heals allies until it is destroyed or canceled.

Ability: BioVida Boost
A wave that gives you and your nearby teammates regen and increased total health.

The Phantoms are from Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. They are the tank faction.

Phantoms are ex-Ghosts from Ghost Recon, also known as the Shadow Team. These deadly soldiers had been fighting with and against the Ghosts for years before disappearing 20 years into the future.

In XDefiant, Phantoms have the following abilities:

Ultra: Aegis
Deploys a spherical shield along with an electro-scattergun for short-range combat.

Passive Trait: Hardened
Phantoms have increased health, making them the tankiest of all factions.

Ability: Mag Barrier
A barrier that blocks incoming fire and grenades.

Ability: Blitz Shield
Equips a tactical shield which can be used to shield bash.

Echelon come from Splinter Cell and are the faction working from the shadows.

The Echelon from Splinter Cell comprise a worldwide network of international intelligence agencies and interceptors that route seized information to the National Security Agency for analysis. They are part of a legacy of spies operating since the Cold War.

In XDefiant, Echelon have the following abilities:

Ultra: Sonar Goggles
Reveal enemies and hunt them down with the classic Third Echelon 5.7 pistol.

Passive Trait: Low Profile
Agent does not appear on enemy minimaps.

Ability: Intel Suit
Shares the location of nearby enemies with your team.

Ability: Digital Ghillie Suit
Makes the player nearly invisible. Movement and aiming reduce the effect.

The Cleaners are from The Division. They help control large areas.

The Cleaners from The Division are New York City sanitation workers-garbageman, public facility janitors, park custodians, street cleaners, water treatment plant operators, etc. They took up arms including flamethrowers, fire axes, and firebombs, traveling around the city trying to cleanse it of the virus.

In XDefiant, Cleaners have the following abilities:

Ultra: The Purifier
Equips a powerful flamethrower.

Passive Trait: Incendiary Rounds

fire Incendiary ammo that does extra burn damage but decreases weapon range.

Ability: Incinerator Drone
A napalm-delivering drone burns everything in its flight path.

Ability: Firebomb
Detonate a Molotov cocktail, causing explosive damage and igniting the area.

This XDefiant faction comes from Watch Dogs. They can disrupt matches with their hacking skills.

DedSec from Watch Dogs is a secret hacking collective. They have a worldwide presence and millions of followers, with their goal being to expose the corruption in the common world, including large corporations.

Ultra: Lockout
Disable the enemies’ HUD, minimap, and abilities in the affected area.

Passive Trait: Fabricator
After a device is deployed, the Fabricator prints a new one.

Ability: Spiderbot
Deploy a Spiderbot that will target and stun the nearest foe via face hug.

Ability: Hijack
Hack enemy-deployed abilities and make them your own.

More collaborations could be planned for the future too, given the likes of Rainbow Six, Assassin's Creed, and Prince of Persia all serve as popular franchises that the developers have not yet added to XDefiant.
