Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Asia Pacific (APAC) Stage 2 Challengers is a multi-regional competition featuring the top teams from Southeast Asia, Oceania, and South Asia. VCT APAC Stage 2 Challengers consists of three phases: the play-ins, group stage, and knockouts.

The play-ins of the tournament concluded on 12th June with four teams – Made in Thailand (MiTH), BOOM Esports (BME), Bleed eSports (BLD), and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) – making it to the Group Stage.

Apart from these four teams, 12 teams made it to the group stage through their respective VCT Stage 2 Challengers regional tournaments. These 16 teams are competing for a chance to represent the APAC region on the international stage at VCT Stage 2 Masters in Copenhagen, Denmark. This Masters tournament will be the first-ever international Valorant LAN event to host a live audience.

A guide to VCT APAC Stage 2 Challengers Groups

The sixteen teams have been split into four groups consisting of four teams and only eight teams will advance to the Playoffs of the tournament. The Group Stage of the tournament is scheduled to take place between 15th June and 20th June.

  • All matches are best-of-three (BO3)

  • Top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs

Team Secret is the last team to qualify for playoffs

In the final decider of the Group Stage, Team Secret (TS) took on Fancy United Esports (FU) and won the series 2-0. It won by a landslide on both Haven and Ascent and eliminated FU from the tournament.

Boom Esports wins Decider and knocks out ORDER

Boom Esports (BME) won the Group C Decider and made it to the Playoffs, and ORDER is now out of the tournament. BME looked strong on Haven as it closed out the map with a 13-9 but it was completely slaughtered by ORDER on Split (13-1) which was one-sided. The last map of the series was Fracture which was BME's game to win by a landslide.

Alter Ego takes down RRQ in Group B Decider

20th June matches started off with the Group B Decider between Alter Ego (AE) and Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ). The series saw three maps getting played out and Alter Ego emerged victorious over RRQ with a 2-1 scoreline. AE stomped RRQ in Bind (13-4) and RRQ answered back on Split (13-11). However, AE was the stronger team on Icebox (13-5) as it eliminated RRQ from the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers tournament.

Griffin Esports defeats Gaimin Gladiators and makes playoffs

Griffin Esports (GFN) has been on a roll lately. In today's Decider match, it took down Gaimin Gladiators (GLA) with a 2-0 series and made it to the playoffs. After this defeat, GLA has been eliminated from VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers.

Bleed Esports picks up win against Fancy United Esports

This Winner's match was really entertaining to watch with the series getting pushed to 3 games. With Bleed Esports winning Game 1 on Split with a 13-8 score and Fancy United (FU) winning Icebox (13-7), the decider of the series was played on Haven. Bleed looked stellar on the last map as it closed out the game with a 13-6 score. Now, FU will have to play against Team Secret in the Decider Match of Group D. Notably, Bleed has also qualified for the playoffs.

Paper Rex advances to Playoffs after defeating ORDER

In the Group C Winners' match, Paper Rex (PRX) went up against ORDER and won the series with a 2-0 score. PRX won both Haven (13-8) and Bind (13-6) and pushed ORDER on to the Decider match against Boom Esports on 20th June

XERXIA makes it to Playoffs phase 

XERXIA (XIA) went up against Indonesian squad Alter Ego (AE) and took the team down with a solid 2-0 performance in the second Winners' match of the day. With this victory, XIA has made it to the VCT 2022 Stage 2 Challengers Playoffs and pushed Alter Ego to fight for its tournament life against Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ). The maps that were played in this series were Ascent and Icebox.

ONIC Esports Qualifies For Playoffs From Group A

The first Winners’ Match on 18th June featured Group A top seeds ONIC Esports and Gaimin Gladiators (GLA). ONIC Esports won the series with a 2-0 record and qualified for the playoffs and GLA will have to play against Griffin Esports in the Decider to make it to the next stage of the APAC tournament. The first map was Ascent which had a 13-6 record and on Haven ONIC secured series point with a 13-4 record.

Team Secret eliminates FW Esports

The first series of the day was the Group D Eliminator between FW Esports and Team Secret. The Phillippines squad of Team Secret won the series 2-0 and moved on to the Decider match on 20th June, whilst simultaneously eliminating FW Esports. The map scores were Haven 13-10 and Icebox 13-3.

Boom Esports Moves On To The Decider In Group C

In the third Eliminator of the day, Indonesian squad Boom Esports (BME) went up against Oasis Gaming (OAS) from the Philippines and won the series with a 2-0 record. It was a convincing win from the squad which took down OAS in both Icebox and Bind with scores of 13-7 and 13-8, respectively. After this defeat, Oasis Gaming has been eliminated from the tournament.

Rex Regum Qeon wins Group B Eliminator against SA’s Global Esports

Rex Regum Qeon came back strong from an Overtime defeat on Map 2 Ascent and completely shut down Global Esports. RRQ won the third game of the BO3 with a scoreline of 13-9. To rub salt on the wounds, the last round victory that secured RRQ the map and series point was a Thrifty win. With this Global Esports has been eliminated from the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers and RRQ has moved on to the Decider Match.

Global Esports and RRQ Fight Neck and Neck in Map 2 of Eliminator; Series Goes To Match 3

In the Group B Eliminator, after showing up big on Map 1 Split and taking down Global Esports in a dominant 13-4 fashion, Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) headed into Ascent confidently. Despite a slow start, the team managed to pull a comeback. However, Global Esports relentlessly fought back and pushed the map into Overtime. Following this, Global Esports won Overtime and took the series to Match 3.

Griffin E-Sports wins Eliminator in Group A

Griffin E-Sports from the Hong Kong and Taiwan region defeated Made In Thailand (MiTH) with a scoreline of 2-0 in the first Elimination match on 17th June. Griffin E-Sports won both maps -- Bind (13-8) and Breeze (13-1) -- by a big margin and shut down MiTH. After this victory, Griffin E-Sports has moved on to the Decider Match on 19th June.

Bleed Esports shut down Team Secret in its Opener

VCT 2022: Philippines Stage 2 Challengers champions Team Secret is not off to the best start to their pursuit of the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers, dropping two consecutive games in relatively quick fashion to Bleed Esports. The Filipinos will now have to survive their elimination match against FW Esports to stay alive in this tournament.

Paper Rex continues its dominance over APAC

In a show of dominance, Paper Rex proved its strength over the rest of the APAC region by dominating BOOM Esports in its opening match at the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers tournament.
