The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2022 Asia Pacific (APAC) Stage 2 Challengers is a multi-regional competition featuring the top teams from Southeast Asia, Oceania, and South Asia. VCT APAC Stage 2 Challengers consists of three phases: the play-ins, group stage, and knockouts.

The play-ins and the group stage of the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers came to an end on 12th June and 20th June, respectively and eight teams moved on to the Knockouts of the tournament.

These eight teams are competing for a chance to represent the APAC region on the international stage at the VCT Stage 2 Masters in Copenhagen, Denmark. This Masters tournament will be the first-ever international Valorant LAN event to host a live audience.

A complete guide to VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers Knockouts

At the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers Knockouts, eight teams have been seeded randomly into a double-elimination bracket to be held between 23rd June and 26th June and two teams will get a chance to qualify for the VCT Stage 2 Masters.

The teams that advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament are:

  • ONIC Esports (ONIC)

  • Griffin E-Sports (GFN)

  • XERXIA (XIA)

  • Alter Ego (AE)

  • Paper Rex (PRX)

  • BOOM Esports (BME)

  • Bleed eSports (BLD)

  • Team Secret (TS)

Format

  • Double-Elimination bracket.

  • First-place team vs second-place team from each group through randomized seeding.

  • Teams from the same group will not be drawn into the same side of the bracket.

  • All matches will be best-of-three (BO3).

  • Grand Final will be a best-of-five (BO5) series.

  • The top two teams will qualify for Stage 2 Masters.

In the VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers Knockouts Day 1, the teams played a BO3 series on 23rd June in the Upper Bracker Quarterfinals and the winners of the four individual matches moved on to the Upper Bracket Semi-Finals. The teams that lost their first series in the Quarterfinals, were pushed to the Lower Bracket Round 1.

23rd June - Upper Quarter-Finals

On 23rd June, during the Upper Quarter-finals, Paper Rex, Bleed eSports, ONIC Esports and Team Secret won their respective matches and advanced to the Upper Bracket Semi-finals. Whereas, Alter Ego, Griffin Esports, Boom Esports, and XERXIA were pushed to the Lower Bracket Round 1.

24th June - Upper Bracket Semi-Finals

24th June - Lower Bracket Round 1

25th June - Lower Quarter-Finals, Upper Bracket Final and Lower Bracket Semi-Finals

26th June - Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final

Paper Rex demolishes XERXIA in the Grand Finals

The Grand Final of the VCT 2022: APAC Stage 2 Challengers was between Paper Rex and XERXIA (XIA). The best-of-five (BO5) series was rather a quick one with Paper Rex (PRX) completely dismantling XIA in just three games. The map scores were as follows: Icebox (13-8), Fracture (13-4) and Breeze (13-5). Both the teams have made it to VCT 2022 Masters Stage 2 Copenhagen but Paper Rex will be the first, top seed and XERXIA will be the second seed from APAC.

XERXIA becomes the second team to qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen

Thai powerhouse XERXIA (XIA) played Team Secret (TS) in the Lower Bracket finals and took down TS with a 2-1 scoreline. Following this victory, XERXIA, alongside Paper Rex (PRX), has confirmed its VCT Masters Copenhagen slot. XIA was quick to bounce off a really bad defeat on Map 1 Haven (13-3) and won Map 2 Ascent with a close 13-10 round score. On Map 3 Icebox, XIA looked calm and composed and had a lead over TS. Towards the second half of the match, TS narrowed down the gap, but in vain as XIA closed out the decider map with a 13-8 score.

XERXIA wins lower bracket semis against ONIC Esports

XERXIA completely dominated the Lower Bracket semi finals against ONIC Esports with a 2-0 score and eliminated ONIC Esports from this tournament. It won by a landslide of rounds on both maps - Breeze (13-8) and Icebox (13-5).

Paper Rex becomes first team to qualify for VCT Masters Copenhagen

Paper Rex (PRX) and Team Secret went head-to-head in the Upper Bracket final and PRX won the series with a straightforward 2-0 score. Following this, PRX has advanced to the grand finals of the tournament and has locked in a spot at the VCT Masters event in Copenhagen. Meanwhile, TS has another chance at redemption as it will fight once again in the lower bracket finals tomorrow.

XERXIA eliminated Bleed eSports 

The second quarter finals between XERXIA (XIA) and Bleed eSports (BLD) was down to the wire with two very close maps. XIA defeated BLD and moved on to the lower bracket semi-finals and eliminated Bleed from this tournament. BLD won the first map of Haven (13-11) and XIA answered back on Fracture (13-5) and Icebox (14-12).

ONIC Esports defeats Alter Ego in lower quarters

The first lower quarterfinals of the day between ONIC Esports (ONIC) and Alter Ego (AE) was a best-of-three (BO3) series and ONIC won it with a 2-1 score. With this victory, ONIC has moved on to the lower bracket semi-finals which will happen later today. After losing this crucial series, AE has been eliminated from the tournament.

XERXIA pulls a comeback against Boom Esports

Heading into the second Lower Bracket Round 1 game of the day, Boom Esports (BME) looked incredibly strong as it took map 1 Icebox with a 13-2 victory against XERXIA (XIA). However, a resilient XERXIA pulled off the unthinkable as it won maps 2 (13-7) and 3 (13-1) by a huge margin. Following this BO3 series, XIA moved to the next round and eliminated Boom Esports from VCT 2022 APAC Stage 2 Challengers.

Alter Ego emerges victorious against Griffin Esports

After a close match on Bind where Alter Ego won against Griffin Esports with a 13-11 score, it bounced back stronger in map 2 on Split and won it by a landslide (13-3). After this victory in the Lower Bracket Round 1, AE will advance to the lower quarterfinals against ONIC Esports and Griffin Esports has been eliminated from contention.

Team Secret makes it to Upper Bracket Final

After winning with a 2-0 score against ONIC Esports, Team Secret has advanced to the Upper Bracket Final and Team Secret will now play in the Lower Quarter-Finals. Both the games on Icebox and Breeze, Team Secret won 13-8.

Paper Rex wins against Bleed eSports

In the first Upper Bracket Semi-Finals, Paper Rex (PRX) won against Bleed eSports (BLD) with a 2-1 score and moved to the Upper Bracket finals. After this loss, Bleed eSports has been pushed to Lower Quarter-Finals. While Bleed won on Split, PRX won Fracture and Ascent.
