Team Spirit’s Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk recently posted on Telegram, reflecting in Team Spirit’s series draw against Xtreme Gaming and BetBoom Team at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. Despite the outcomes of the recent series in the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai, Yatoro expressed optimism and faith in his team. Team Spirit is currently placed second in the group B standings. Notably, the series draw with Xtreme Gaming brought an end to Team Spirit’s 21-series win streak.
Xtreme Gaming Breaks Team Spirit’s 21 Series Win Streak
On 5th February, Team Spirit went head to head with Chinese Dota 2 powerhouse Xtreme Gaming at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai group stage. The series ended in a competitive draw, effectively putting a stop to Team Spirit’s 21-series win streak. Following this, Team Spirit went head to head against BetBoom Team in a best-of-two series and drew once again.
Team Spirit’s Yatoro then took to Telegram and spoke about the team's current form in the tournament. He wrote, “So we lost two maps [games] very stupidly and by our own fault. In general it's going well. P.S. The second against Bb (BetBoom Team) salted by Denis Larl Sigitov.”
Interestingly, he pointed out Denis "Larl" Sigitov as the reason for Team Spirit’s loss against BetBoom Team in a 77-minute showdown that had a constant back and forth between both teams.
Looking back at the game, Larl’s Pangolier had a bad start against Danil "gpk" Skutin’s Templar Assassin in the mid lane. Due to this, Larl did not have much impact in the game and made numerous misplays. Although the game lasted for a full 77 minutes, Larl’s Pangolier only dealt a measly 22K damage to heroes. In comparison, his teammate Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov had a total of 20.5K hero damage on Snapfire.
However, Yatoro seemed to be optimistic about Team Spirit’s run at the BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai. The team is set to take on Azure Ray later today on 7th February. On the final day of the group stage, Team Spirit will be going up against the only other team with 2 TI (The International) wins under its belt: OG.
Although Team Spirit lost its winning streak after a draw against Xtreme Gaming, it still remains undefeated in the last 34 series it has played. Azure Ray and OG are both formidable teams in the Dota 2 landscape and it will be interesting to see if either of these teams can break Team Spirit’s streak or if Team Spirit continues to stay resilient.
