In the aftermath of a disappointing performance at Elite League, Virtus.pro announces a change in its roster to hopefully give the team a breath of fresh air and room for further growth.
Moving its long-time position four support Oleg “sayuw” Kalenbet to the inactive roster, Virtus.pro welcomed former 9Pandas player Vladislav "Antares" Kertman to the team on 25th April 2024, Thursday.
Virtus.pro’s head of the Dota 2 roster Alexander “StrangeR” Solomonov, took to Telegram and explained that the reason behind this sudden roster change was to ensure the expected delivery of results in future tournaments.
Antares Replaces Sayuw on Virtus.pro’s Dota 2 Active Lineup
On 25th April 2024, Thursday - Eastern European Dota 2 organization Virtus.pro bid farewell to its long-time position four support sayuw.
Sayuw joined the team back in 2022 and has been through the highs and lows with them. Virtus.pro took to Telegram and wrote, “We thank Oleg for his significant contribution to our final result at The International 2023!” where the team finished with a modest 7th-8th position.
Virtus.pro also took this opportunity to introduce former 9Pandas player Antares as its new position four support, “Welcome a new player to the Bears Dota 2 roster - Vladislav “Antares” Kertman. Vladislav is still a young player, but he has already established himself as a professional with a lot of experience in the biggest Dota 2 tournaments.”
Explaining the reason behind the substitution, Virtus.pro’s head of Dota 2 roster StrangeR took to his personal Telegram channel and explained that Virtus.pro has been playing without a roster change for over a year, during which time they had been working to improve.
Unfortunately, the team could not generate desirable results in tournaments and therefore a shakeup in the roster may give the team a breath of fresh air and room for improvement.
He further explained that amidst the shakeup of the roster, sayuw became the “victim of circumstances.” However, he cleared the air of any speculation and noted that the reason for this roster change was not to target any individual but to explore options for improvement.
Virtus.pro’s decision to go with Antares as its new position four can be the breath of fresh air it was looking for, although he has not achieved major tournament titles, Antares is a commendable support and could be the perfect fit for Virtus.pro’s roster.
However, that question will only be answered in time. Currently, Virtus.pro has about two weeks to prepare for its upcoming tournament, PGL Wallachia Season 1, where 16 teams will be fighting for the lion’s share of the $1 Million prize pool.
