Vikin.gg has communicated its decision to part ways with its current Dota 2 roster via its Twitter handle. Considering the team was doing pretty well in recent times and had built up an adequate fanbase in the last year, this is a surprising piece of news. However, Vikin.gg failed to meet its expectations at the Western Europe (WEU) qualifier of The International 10 (TI10), losing back-to-back series to be eliminated. It is unclear at the moment whether the five members of the team will remain together after this change and if Vikin.gg will pick a new roster in the coming time.

Update - On 17th July, Vikin.gg's coach, Daniel "ImmortalFaith" Moza, communicated via a Twitter post that the five members of the team will not continue playing together in the future.

Vikin.gg disbands its Dota 2 roster

In this parting tweet, the organization did not specify the reason for disbanding its Dota 2 roster.

Vikin.gg's now-former captain, Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp, sent a series of tweets after the announcement of this roster release, thanking the fans for their support. Reviewing the achievements of the team, he reflected on the time spent at Vikin.gg

It might be over for now, but I am certain you will be able to see more from us in the future,” Seleri states at the end which indicates that the team might be sticking together.

Seleri's statement on parting ways with Vikin.gg

In November 2019, Vikin.gg, a Romanian organization, entered the Dota 2 competitive scene with a group of European players. Following the January 2020 addition of midlaner, Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan, the team gained success in online tournaments, winning BTS Pro Series Season 3: Europe/CIS, DOTA Summit 13 Online: Europe & CIS, and EPIC League Season 3 Division 1.

During the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021, Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann replaced Tobias "Tobi" Buchner in the offlane position. Despite starting off in the Upper Division of the WEU DPC season one, the team was relegated to the Lower Division after some fierce competition. Nonetheless, their rebound was superb as they decimated all of their opponents in the Lower Division in the second season to finish with a perfect 7-0 record.

Vikin.gg’s roster at the time of disbandment:

  1. Indji "Shad" Lub

  2. Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan

  3. Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann

  4. Adam "Aramis" Moroz

  5. Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp

Daniel "ImmortalFaith" Moza founded Vikin.gg and coached the team as well.

Vikin.gg failed to qualify for TI10 after getting eliminated from the WEU DPC qualifier.

TI10 has been postponed from 5th-15th August to 7th-17th October, and it will take place in Bucharest, Romania, instead of Stockholm, Sweden. At the time of writing this article, no tournaments for the WEU region are taking place or have been scheduled, according to public knowledge.
