TSM announced that its current captain, David "MoonMeander" Tan will be transitioning into becoming the team’s head coach.
MoonMeander was considered as a pillar of the team, as the former Team Undying stack was picked up by TSM in early 2022.
Following the announcement, TSM will be looking to rebuild around the trio of Timado, Bryle and SabeRLight-.

TSM will be looking for new support players for the upcoming season, as the organization has officially confirmed that its team captain David "MoonMeander" Tan will be transitioning into his new role as the team’s head coach. TSM enjoyed a great debut year in the Dota 2 competitive scene, as it managed to achieve a second place finish at the ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major.

However, as the season goes on TSM faltered in terms of performance as it bombed out of The International 2022 (TI11), placing in 17th-20th.

TSM to recruit new support duo as MoonMeander transitions into head coach

Earlier in the month, TSM announced that it would be looking to rebuild its roster following its disappointing performance at TI11 by releasing support player Kim "DuBu" Doo-young into free agency. However, TSM will now be looking for a new captain as well as current team leader, David "MoonMeander" Tan will be transitioning into the team’s head coach after 8 years of playing competitively.

“A DOTA veteran's journey, from player to now Head Coach. This is the story of TSM @MoonMeanderated”  TSM wrote in a tweet that also included a video documenting the player's journey in the competitive scene.

While MoonMeander mostly talked about his journey as a player during the past eight years, he also talked about the decision of transitioning from playing to coaching as he stated that he wanted to coach the former Undying stack last year. However, he felt that the younger players within the team at the time could use some guidance from a veteran player such as himself.

“I was supposed to coach this team [Team Undying] at the start, however I felt that the four prospects [Timado, Bryle, SabeRLight-, DuBu] were weak compared to me. I was like “If I want to play, I better get someone who’s better than me at coaching and we did that at TI10 [with Febby as our coach] and then TSM picked us up. At that point, I was thinking “Should I coach or stay with the team for another year for stability? I chose to stay for one more year.”

He then stated that following his recent competitive season, he decided that it was time to give other players an opportunity to prove themselves with the team as he felt that his talents are better utilized as a coach for the team.

As of now, TSM’s roster is as follows:

  • Enzo "Timado" O'Connor

  • Jonathan "Bryle" Guia

  • Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek

  • T.B.A

  • T.B.A

  • David "MoonMeander" Tan (head coach)

TSM is expected to reveal its full roster later today, according to a TSM staff member on the Dota 2 subreddit after posting the announcement.
