Topson Gives His Thoughts on the Current Lina Meta
During his recent livestream, midlaner Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen gave his opinion on the current meta, which involves Lina being used as a carry hero. At the beginning of the season, Topson returned to Europe in order to qualify for Division II of the Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit 2023 (WEU DPC) with Johan "N0tail" Sundstein and Sebastian "Ceb" Debs in a new stack called Old G.
However, the stack was unable to qualify for Division II despite coming close twice.
“Just remove it from the game” - Topson talks about the current Lina meta
During his livestream, one of Topson’s viewers asked the midlaner about his opinion on the current meta which also saw Lina being picked most of the time in the current competitive season. For those unfamiliar with the Lina meta, the meta involves the player focusing on leveling up her passive ability as it provides her with extra attack and movement speed. This allowed her to be played as a rapid-fire carry, as she does more damage right-clicking enemy heroes with her attack speed, instead of using her abilities.
However, Topson responded to the question by saying that the current meta is an abomination. “I don’t know, just remove it from the game at this point. Lina is not even a mid hero anymore like she used to be. It seems to be unfair. Like how long has it been since Lina is not a good hero? ” he said.
He also went on to talk about Lina's versatility back in the previous years, before saying that the current patch made Lina a broken hero. “I don’t remember a time where Lina was not OP (overpowered). Even at TI8, she was one of the popular midlane heroes. After TI9, she was broken as a support hero but she always was a stupid hero to play with. Now, she is probably the stupidest she has been, like with her broken stun ability and the passive skill. ” he added.
Despite being unable to qualify for Division II of the WEU DPC: Winter Tour, Topson & Old G are expected to return for the open qualifiers of the upcoming Spring Tour as they attempt to qualify for Division II for a second time.
