After sitting on the team's inactive roster for the past few days, Filipino carry player Justine Ryan Evangelista "Tino" Grimaldo has officially parted ways with BOOM Esports. BOOM Esports, which recently announced Lao Dota 2 player Souliya "JaCkky" Khoomphetsavong as its new safelaner, announced Tino's departure via social media. Tino's new team has not been announced, however, Execration has added the player to its roster on the Dota 2 Majors Registration page. Teams are changing their lineups just a few days before the rosters for Tour 2 of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 get locked on 27th Feb.
Tino leaves BOOM Esports and gets added to Execration’s Dota 2 roster on Valve’s Majors Page
“Every hello has a goodbye - and today we are parting ways and bidding farewell @dota2tino_,” BOOM Esports wrote, announcing its gratitude for the player's contributions in the Tour 1 run and wishing him luck in the future.
In Tour 1, Tino had been a key part of BOOM Esports' success. The team had entered Tour 1 on the back of perfect performances at third-party events and continued to display the same excellence there to win the event. Despite topping the table, BOOM Esports placed Tino on the inactive roster, replacing him with JaCkky for the Regional Finals. The team continued its winning ways with JaCkky and defeated T1 in the Regional Finals to win the title.
Recently, BOOM Esports announced the official inclusion of JaCkky to its Dota 2 roster. Now that Tino is officially gone as well, the team loses 67.5 DPC points because of Valve's rules that state, “any player removals will incur a 15% penalty to all DPC Point earned at the time of removal. There is no penalty for adding a new player.”
According to Valve's Majors Registration Page, Tino will represent Execration going forward. He was added to the roster on Valve's site on 24th Feb.
It is interesting to note that Tino has already been as the team’s offlaner instead of playing his usual carry role in the BTS Pro Series 10 tournament. Jinn Marrey "Palos" Lamatao, who joined Execration on 22nd February, is serving as the team’s carry. In addition to Tino, former Omega Esports' support Mark "Shanks" Redira has also been added to Execration's roster on Valve's Majors Registration Page.
Due to the roster lock taking place just a couple of days from now, it is likely that Tino and Shanks will be officially added to Execration soon. The team barely avoided relegation to Division 2 in Tour 1, so it will be interesting to see if a revamped roster can turn things around in Tour 2.
