Team Spirit did not seem to be afflicted by the post-The International (TI) blues as it did not drop the ball once during its first series of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Eastern Europe (EEU) 2021-22 Tour 1: Division 1. The Bo3 series against Team Unique ended 2-0 for Team Spirit, who dominated its opponents almost in every aspect of the game. During the first game, Team Unique's draft lacked sustained damage, which proved to be a key factor in the loss. Team Unique put together a competitive draft in the second game, but Team Spirit proved too strong to overcome.
Team Spirit vs Team Unique: Match Recap and Highlights
Recap
In game 1, Team Unique opted for a lineup with powerful spells but no way to continuously deal damage. In response to the opponent's strategy, Team Spirit chose a safelane Wraith King. However, Wraith King was not even required to show up as Miposhka's Bane and TORONTOTOKYO's Shadow Fiend did most of the heavy lifting. After pressing its initial spells, Team Unique could not do a lot in the teamfights, losing in 34 minutes.
In game 2, Team Unique not only selected a competitive draft, but it also included some of its players' comfort heroes, including fn's Storm Spirit and 7jesu's Ursa. Fn did well in the midlane to stop TORONTOTOKYO's Ember Spirit, but the latter came back with some clutch support rotations. 7jesu's Ursa was killing Roshan alone but Team Spirit smartly scanned it and killed him, stealing the Aegis which was an important turning point for Team Spirit. With the Aegis, Yatoro, who was farming like a madman on Troll Warlord, lead his team from one objective to another. Even though Team Unique appeared to be capable early on, the game ended up being just a 24 minute affair.
Highlights
Here are some highlights of the series.
Although many teams have taken it easy after winning Dota 2's biggest tournament in the past, TI10 champions Team Spirit are still hungry for more Dota. “We just took a rest, and now we are ready again to play some Dota 2,” said the team's captain Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov about how the team spent the past month during the post-match winner's interview. He added that their focus is now on the DPC league and proving that they're still playing well.
Team Spirit and Team Unique were, however, still playing their first series in the league, and with the league lasting for nearly two months, a lot remains to be seen about how they will fare in the remaining series. Team Spirit’s next series will be against PuckChamp on 9th Dec 2021 while Team Unique faces HellRaisers on 10th Dec 2021.
