Team Spirit and its members have been nominated under different esports categories for The Game Awards 2021 in light of all the recognition received for their win at The International 10.
While Team Spirit has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Esports Team,’ Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov and coach Airat "Silent" Gaziev will compete for the titles of ‘Best Esports Athlete’ and ‘Best Esports Coach’ respectively.
The Game Awards 2021 will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, USA on 9th Dec 2021.

A scintillating win by Team Spirit at The International 10 (TI10) captured the attention of the esports community. Following all the recognition received in the past month, Team Spirit and its members have now been nominated under different esports categories for The Game Awards 2021. While Team Spirit has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Esports Team,’ Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov and coach Airat "Silent" Gaziev will compete for the titles of ‘Best Esports Athlete’ and ‘Best Esports Coach’ respectively. Team Spirit won TI10 after a magical run through the lower bracket into the grand finals of the event to ultimately defeat PSG.LGD.

There are a total of five esports categories in The Game Awards 2021, and Team Spirit has been nominated in three of them.

Here are the nominations for the Best Esports Team and the games they represent

  • Atlanta FaZe - Call of Duty

  • DWG KIA - League of Legends

  • Sentinels - Valorant

  • NAVI - CS:GO

  • Team Spirit - Dota 2

Collapse, widely regarded as the MVP of TI10 due to his exemplary offlane performance, has been nominated for the ‘Best Esports Athlete”. The player maintained a consistent style of gameplay throughout the tournament and pulled off some clutch plays towards the end. At TI10 his signature heroes were Mars, Tidehunter, and of course Magnus.

At The Game Awards 2021, Collapse will face tough competition from other esports athletes. Here are the nominees:

  2. Heo “ShowMaker” Su

  3. Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov

  4. Tyson “TenZ” Ngo

  5. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev

As part of its first place finish at TI10, Team Spirit won more than $18 million USD, making its players some of the wealthiest esports players in the world.

Although Team Spirit's coach, Silent, has remained under the radar, he has played an integral role in shaping the squad as noted by the players and the manager through interviews. Here are the nominees under the category of Best Esports coach:

  • Airat "Silent" Gaziev

  • Andrey "Engh" Sholokhov

  • James "Crowder" Crowder

  • Kim "kkOma" Jeong-gyun

  • Andrei "B1ad3" Horodenskyi

Dota 2 is also nominated in two other esports categories in The Game Awards 2021. The game is a finalist in the category of 'Best Esports Game' along with CS:GO, Call of Duty, League of Legends, and Valorant. TI10 is a finalist under the 'Best Esports Event' award, alongside the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, the PUBG Mobile Global Championship, and the Valorant Champions Tour: Stage 2.
