Team SMG has knocked out T1 from the BTS Pro Series S7: Southeast Asia (SEA) by pulling off a massive 2-0 victory over them. In game one, Team SMG came out all guns blazing with an aggressive draft to catch T1 off guard. During the second game, both teams showed glimpses of excellence as well as made mistakes, but Team SMG ended up winning in 46 minutes. In the lower bracket final of the BTS Pro Series S7: SEA, Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng and his teammates will now face off against Fnatic.
T1 vs Team SMG: Match recap and highlights
In the first game, Team SMG displayed aggressive Dota 2 play with a carry Leshrac, a mid Mars, and an offlane Elder Titan. As a result, the early game went in their favor, and they held on to that lead. SMG had a difficult time piercing the highground because of an enemy Medusa, but they eventually won after 38 minutes.
Game two was an edge-of-your-seat thriller as the lead constantly switched sides. The game was chaotic as we saw a number of great individual plays and some mistakes from both sides. In a couple of instances, the towers’ Backdoor Protection even helped both teams hold on to the game. Ultimately, SMG focused on T1's throne to win in 46 minutes.
Here are some highlights of the series.
With three series won in a row in the lower bracket of the BTS Pro Series S7: SEA, Team SMG is on a roll. They initially defeated Army Geniuses, then Execration, and now T1. Today, it was their top-notch strategies and individual performances which helped them to take a 2-0 win over the mighty T1.
On the other hand, T1 finishes fourth in the BTS Pro Series S7: SEA and takes home a total of $4,000 USD. A great deal of expectation was placed on T1 in this tournament since they were considered the best team from the SEA region in recent times because of their solid results in international events. However, the team did not quite live up to expectations at the BTS Pro Series 7.
With a new patch around the corner, T1 will be looking to rebound in the ESL One Fall 2021: Bootcamp Edition that is set to begin on 21st Aug 2021. The event will feature some of the best international Dota 2 teams.
