Team Secret will compete at the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2022 with a different five-man lineup since offlaner Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang is reportedly going to miss it. According to a team roster listing shared by the tournament organizers, iceiceice will be replaced by former HellRaisers’ captain Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok at the Riyadh Masters 2022. An official announcement of the replacement has not yet been made by Team Secret. On 20th July, the Riyadh Masters 2022 will kick off and run for five days, culminating on 24th July with the grand final.
Resolut1on to stand in for Team Secret at the Riyadh Masters 2022
Following reports of other teams like Tundra Esports and Team Liquid fielding stand-ins, Secret also appears to be entering the Riyadh Masters with a slightly revised lineup, as Resolut1on replaces iceiceice.
Team Secret’s Dota 2 roster for the Riyadh Masters is as follows:
Remco "Crystallis" Arets
Michał "Nisha" Jankowski
Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok
Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov
Clement "Puppey" Ivanov
On his Twitch channel, Resolut1on has been livestreaming Southeast Asian pubs for the past couple of months. The player has been well known for his performance in the carry role, but recently has tended to play in the offlane, and most of these pubs have come as the position three.
In a tweet on 10th May, he expressed his desire to make a comeback with his former teammate, Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov, after taking a break citing professional burnout back in November 2021.
While neither player found a team to join for Tour 3, when Secret announced that Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat would be taking a long break from competitive Dota 2 for health reasons in the middle of Tour 3, Zayac was named the team's new position four player.
So, even though it might just be one tournament, Resolut1on and Zayac will finally have the opportunity to compete together. At the same time, it's unclear why iceiceice won't be able to travel with Secret to the event.
It will be intriguing to watch how Secret performs at the Riyadh Masters 2022 against the world's most potent and most in-form teams. Secret hasn't been playing well recently so the team will aim to acquire as much experience as it can in order to return stronger for The International 11 (TI11) regional qualifier. The team's opening series at the Riyadh Masters will take place on 20th July versus Tundra Esports.
