The Dreamleague Season 20 Group Stage 2 continues, with the best 8 teams competing to make it to the playoffs of the tournament.
Talon Esports had an impressive showing, qualifying for Group Stage 2 of the tournament and winning its most recent series against Team Aster.
Chan "Oli" Chon Kien was present for the post-match interview and provided insights into the team’s mindset after failing to qualify for the Bali Major 2023.

Talon Esports, the team that was considered to be the strongest team in Southeast Asia, had a disappointing run in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) SEA 2023 Tour 3: Division I and faced a surprising setback as the team failed to secure a Top 3 finish and qualify for the highly anticipated Bali Major 2023. The underwhelming performance left fans surprised, considering their previous dominance in the region. Despite this disappointment, Talon Esports are competing at Dreamleague Season 20, where they showcased resilience in Group Stage 1 and successfully advanced to Group Stage 2. In a post-match interview following their victory against Team Aster, Chan "Oli" Chon Kien from Talon Esports shared valuable insights into the team's mindset and the challenges they faced during the Bali Major qualifiers.

Insights from Oli's Post-Match Interview

During the interview, Oli from Talon Esports shed light on the team's evaluation of their performance in the Bali Major 2023 qualifiers. He highlighted the heroes they played opponents outplaying them as key factors contributing to their struggles.

"I think the heroes we play and also the enemy just playing different heroes, and we are just getting outplayed. Naga, Silencer, Void Spirit, this kind of heroes that we don't really pick in the early stage, and the enemy just picks them, and we cannot really counter it, and this makes our games pretty hard."

Moving forward in Dreamleague Season 20

In Group Stage 2 of Dreamleague Season 20, Talon Esports faced a challenging start as the team lost its first series against Evil Geniuses, the team currently considered the best in South America (SA). However, the team quickly regained their composure and showcased their resilience in their subsequent series against Team Aster, securing a dominant 2-0 victory. With five more series remaining, scheduled from June 18th to June 22nd, Talon Esports finds itself in an important position to win its games and qualify for the playoffs.

Currently tied for the 3rd position in the standings alongside EG and 9Pandas, while BetBoom and PSG.LGD holds the joint 1st position, Talon Esports must secure a minimum Top 4 standing to advance to the playoffs. Achieving this feat will require the team to win over formidable opponents such as 9Pandas, Gaimin Gladiators, and PSG.LGD, and others in their upcoming series.

Dreamleague Season 20 Group Stage 2 Standings

While Talon Esports faced disappointment in the Bali Major 2023 qualifiers, the invitation to Dreamleague Season 20 provided an opportunity for the team to redeem themselves. Oli’s insights give fans an understanding of the team’s thought process after failing to qualify for the Bali Major 2023. Moving forward, the team will aim to perform well in Group Stage 2 to represent the SEA region on the international stage.
