Former Alliance and Chicken Fighters players have come together to form a team "goonsquad" on Valve's Majors Registration Page.
S4, Limmp, and Handsken are the former Alliance members on the team while Charlie and Peksu are the former Chicken Fighters players.
The five players of the goonsquad are likely to compete in the Western European DPC 2021-22 Tour 2's open qualifiers.

Dota 2 veteran Gustav "s4" Magnusson, who did not compete in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021-22 Tour 1, is appearing to return to competitive Dota 2 with some of his former teammates from Alliance. According to Valve's Majors Registration Page, three former Alliance players and two Chicken Fighters members have come together to form a team "goonsquad" for the upcoming DPC 2021-22 Tour 2. No official announcement has been made of this roster by any of the five players at the time of writing. The roster lock for Tour 2 is scheduled for 27th Feb.

The goonsquad team emerged on Valve's Majors Registration Page on 26th Feb, comprising some of the finest free agents in the scene.ers

These five players are likely to assume these positions from one to five based on their roles in the recent past.

  1. Charlie "CharlieDota" Arat (also known as "aQua")

  2. Linus "Limmp" Blomdin

  3. Gustav "s4" Magnusson

  4. Simon "Handsken" Rasmus Haag

  5. Petu "Peksu" Vaatainen

S4, Limmp, and Handsken completed their last competitive stints with Alliance. S4 and Limmp departed Alliance after The International 10 (TI10), where the team lacked the ability to replicate its regional dominance and finished 9th-12th. Handsken continued to be a member of the team after TI10. He switched from position four to position five and even took over as captain. The team, which had been a top performer in regional competitions in the DPC 2021, however, suffered a painful relegation from Division 1 in Tour 1 of the DPC 2021-22 with its new roster. In the wake of poor performance and internal issues, Handsken and Alliance parted ways after Tour 1.

Meanwhile, Charlie and Peksu were teammates in Chicken Fighters, a team that topped the table in Division 2 of Tour 1 of the DPC 2021-22 with two other teams. However, the team failed to hold its own on the tiebreakers day, losing both to Entity and Brame to finish third and failing to secure the promotion to Division 2.

Unless it acquires a Division 1 or Division 2 slot from some other team, these five players of the goonsquad will likely be competing in the open qualifiers of the Western European (WEU) Tour 2.

Many of these players are coming off subpar results in Tour 1 of the DPC 2021/22 season but they all have a great deal of experience. Because the patch is also so new, the players can leverage their experience to come up with unique strategies when playing in the qualifiers. There have been quite a few star-studded lineups that have not been very successful in competitive Dota 2 recently, such as Elephant, Talon Esports, and NAVI, so it will be interesting to see how the goonsquad does.
