Following the departure of Daniel "Ghost" Chan and Roman "rmN-" Paley, Nigma Galaxy has found itself without an offlaner and a position four support. Amid this shortfall, rumors have emerged about the potential return of Maroun "GH" Merhej to the lineup. These rumors were initially sparked by Russian Dota 2 commentator Khaled "sQreen" El-Khabbash, who hinted that GH might rejoin the active roster.
In December 2023, GH had stepped back to focus on family time.
GH to Return to Nigma Galaxy’s Active Roster?
Nigma Galaxy's recent struggles, notably during the DreamLeague Season 22 and BetBoom Dacha 2024 Dubai qualifiers, led to the release of Ghost and rmN-. This left two vacancies in the team's lineup, fueling speculation about who might fill these roles.
On January 20th, sQreen shared insights via Telegram about the rumored comeback of GH to the active roster. He critiqued Ghost's performance as lackluster and noted rmN-'s inability to stand out, suggesting their removal was inevitable. sQreen expressed hope for GH's return alongside a new, promising offlaner like Pure to elevate the team's potential.
Vladimir "No[o]ne-" Minenko of Entity also seemed to confirm these speculations during a Twitch stream, remarking on the swift replacement of Ghost and rmN- and the anticipated return of GH. He expressed curiosity about the team's future core lineup, noting MinD_ContRoL's current position in a reputable team.
He said “They [Ghost and rmN-] didn't last long, of course. Immediate replacements. It's very strange. So, GH will return, that's clear. I wonder who will be their 'third-core'? MinD_ContRoL is already in a decent team.”
Nigma Galaxy addressed the future of its Dota team in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on January 20th, expressing confidence in the core trio of KuroKy, Miracle, and Sumail. The team promised updates on the finalized roster ahead of the ESL One Birmingham qualifiers, set to begin on January 22nd, indicating an imminent announcement.
