The squad will be coached by Xie "Super" Junhao, who recently moved from Elephant to Royal Never Give Up.
Somnus, Chalice, and xNova finalize Royal Never Give Up’s Dota 2 roster
With the roster lock date only a few hours away, more and more teams are finally announcing their rosters, and Royal Never Give Up made their change earlier today, adding some of the most seasoned Dota 2 players in the region.
Royal Never Give Up’s Dota 2 roster in the new season consists of:
Zhong “God King” Liushuai
Lu "Somnus丶M" Yao
Yang "Chalice" Shenyi
Chong “FelixCiaoBa” Wei Lun
Yap "xNova" Jian Wei
God King and FelixCiaoBa are the two players who remain on the roster. Deng "Dstones"' Lei and Su "Flyby" Lei have been transferred to Sparking Arrow Gaming, while Ru "RedPanda" Zhihao's status is currently unknown.
While Somnus played for Elephant in the DPC 2021, xNova and Chalice were a part of EHOME. Neither squad had a compelling performance in the season. The two teams faced each other in the qualifier for The International 10 (TI10) with Somnus’ Elephant emerging stronger. Elephant had an underwhelming performance at TI10 with it finishing 13th-16th.
Even though these three players did not achieve the results they desired in the past season, they have shown their potential over the years, especially during their time with PSG.LGD in TI8 and TI9. The team was quite strong and extremely tough to knock off, placing second at TI9 and third at TI8.
This year, Somnus, Chalice, and xNova will be hoping to make waves in competitive Dota 2 once again, with the assistance of a prodigious safelaner in God King and a steady player in FelixCiaoBa. Super, a Chinese Dota 2 veteran will also be providing his valuable experience as he returns to the squad as a coach.
Royal Never Give Up will be beginning its DPC 2021-22 journey in the Lower Division after having placed seventh in the second league of the previous season.
