While some players went into livestreaming during this period, others such as team captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov was seen practicing hard in the game during his free time as of late. Following its relegation to Division II for the first time in its history, Team Secret suddenly had a lot of free time to reflect on their mistakes before playing again in the middle of May.
With the newly found free time, Puppey was looking to make amends in the Spring Tour by playing more than 25 ranked matches within a single day.
Puppey’s relentless grind turned out to be a way to fix his sleeping schedule
With Team Secret being relegated to the second division of the Western Europe Dota Pro Circuit (WEU DPC), the team will only play after the end of the second tour of Division I of the DPC which is expected to be around the middle of May.
While some of the players used the free time to reflect on their mistakes throughout the Winter Tour, team captain Puppey decided to grind hard in preparation for the upcoming Spring Tour by constantly playing ranked games. According to Dota 2 Pro Tracker, Puppey has played a total of 26 ranked matches within a span of 24 hours. Additionally, Puppey played a total of 64 ranked matches within the past week which meant that his constant grind was only one third of his total activity.
Despite the non-stop grind, Puppey had a terrible week in his ranked games as he had only a meager 39% win rate during his grind. According to Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski who is acquainted with the Estonian captain, the real reason behind Puppey’s relentless grind was to fix his sleeping schedule. However, the streamer was amazed by Puppey’s determination to constantly grind ranked matches despite his age.
“I talked with Puppey afterwards, apparently he was staying up for more than 24 hours as he wanted to fix his sleeping schedule. He played around 27 pubs in a row and went on to sleep for like 15 hours afterwards, which did little to fix his sleeping. I’m surprised, because at his age he can stay up more than 24 hours while I can’t.”
While Team Secret is only expected to play again around May, the team might undergo roster changes as Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynokw stated that he was a free agent in a Twitch chat. However as of now, it is not yet confirmed that Resolut1on is officially leaving.
