Outsiders no more as The Bears return to its original name
After a five-month span of competing under the neutral tag of Outsiders, The Bears will be returning to its original name tag of Virtus Pro after tournament tournaments PGL confirmed the name change in its announcement of the upcoming TI11 Last Chance Qualifiers
As first reported by Escorenews.com, the team managed to regain its original tag back in the Dota 2 client on 19th Sept but at the time it was not sure as it could be an oversight or a technical error by Valve. However, with PGL’s announcement for the TI11 Last Chance Qualifiers, the news of Outsiders returning to its original tag of Virtus.Pro was confirmed. The organization also commented to Escorenews that its roster “can and will compete exclusively under the Virtus.Pro tag” after the confirmation".
Virtus.Pro was forced to compete under a neutral name, Outsiders, after the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia conflict as the team’s ownership group at the time had ties to companies and individuals sanctioned by both the American and European governments.
However, the organization recently announced that it had an overhaul in terms of management, as Virtus.Pro announced its newest CEO, Aram Karamanukyan on Twitter and its official website. Following the announcement, the organization was removed from ESForce Holding’s list of key assets as the organization was a part of the company.
