OG and Team Secret, two winless teams, faced off against one another in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 3: Division I and it was the former that emerged triumphant. In game one, Secret pushed OG back with an all-around performance, but better drafting, hero timing understanding, and better teamfight execution helped it reverse sweep to claim a 2-1 victory. While the second game was heavily one-sided in favor of OG, Secret did have its chances in the third encounter but failed to exhibit the desired map play to clinch its first win of the tournament. As a result, Secret has slipped to the bottom of the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division I points table.

Team Secret vs OG: Match recap and highlights

Recap

Game 1 was one of the few in this patch where Doom struggled to make an effect. Secret's supports were highly proactive and hunted in pairs, resulting in one kill after another on the opponent and giving away just two kills in the first 20 minutes. A failed teamfight for Secret at the 20-minute mark brought the game back to level, but the team went back to farming and eventually took the lead courtesy of a mobile draft. OG was never able to start teamfights as its lineup desired while Yamich was a beast on Spirit Breaker, assisting Secret to a 51-minute victory.

Game 2 was a very one-sided affair, with OG just outdrafting and outplaying Secret. Secret's squad lacked coordination and initiation, as it was run over by OG from the start. DM was able to hold firm on Undying in the front, to which Secret had no answer, and OG won game two in 22 minutes with 26 kills to Secret's four.

Game 3 saw both sides aim for in-meta choices, and it proved to be the most competitive game, with networth being level until the 20-minute mark. Secret had done somewhat better in the laning stage but was unable to capitalize on it since OG was more efficient. Despite having Alchemist on the roster, Secret kept slipping behind in networth and lacked the damage to kill OG's heroes in teamfights, despite locking them down with numerous disables and stuns. Secret tapped out of the game after 37 minutes after losing a major teamfight in the base.

Highlights

Here are some highlights of the series.

Tommy "Taiga" Le missed the tournament to begin with, and OG fell to two consecutive losses before finally picking up a win. The performance wasn't the best today either, but it held up under tough conditions.

With Taiga likely to return for the remainder of the tournament, it is absolutely crucial that the team wins the majority of the series in order to book a spot in the next Major and continue to contend for a direct entry into The International 12.

Secret, promoted from Division II, has yet to win a series and has only looked like a competent squad at times. Its players lack consistency, which shows when the circumstances aren't ideal for them. If a similar trajectory continues, Secret may be relegated to Division II.

In the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division I, Secret’s next series will come against D1 Hustlers on 24th May 2023 while OG plays Team Liquid on 26th May.
