OG, one of the most iconic names in competitive Dota 2, has had a disappointing run at the Riyadh Masters 2023. The team managed to secure their spot in the Group Stages by winning a crucial decider series against Entity. However, their journey in the group stages underwhelming, as they struggled to secure victories, leading to their eventual elimination from the tournament.
Disappointing Group Stage Performance
Throughout the Group Stages, OG mostly had several draws against the other teams in the group, followed by two series losses against Gaimin Gladiators and PSG.LGD, which was just enough to eliminate them from the event.
The team was part of Group A in the event, which had some very close standings throughout the group stages. The team’s last game in the group stages was against Gaimin Gladiators, where they had to secure a 2-0 in order to force tiebreakers and fight for their tournament lives, however, the 3-time Major winners proved to be too strong.
OG's participation in the Riyadh Masters 2023 came with the legendary stand-in, Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, stepping in to help the team once again. This addition gave fans hope of a deep run in the tournament, reminiscent of their previous successes with Ceb as a stand-in. However, despite their best efforts, the team faced challenges both in the Play-Ins and the Group Stages, bringing their journey to a premature end.
With their elimination from the Riyadh Masters 2023, OG must now shift their focus towards The International 12 open qualifiers. However, the path ahead is filled with strong regional teams, including Nigma Galaxy, Quest Esports, and Team Secret, among others. Additionally, the team will have to make important decisions regarding their roster, including whether Ceb will continue as a stand-in or if they will consider other options.
