Mira Got Banned Right in the Middle of a Dota 2 Tournament

1win Series Dota 2 Spring tournament kicked off on 16^th March 2024, Saturday and one of the opening match took place between Team Spirit and MOUZ. 

However, right before the match tragedy struck Team Spirit’s Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov whose Steam account received a ban ahead of the game. This rendered him unable to log into his Dota 2 account and therefore he had no option but to play using their manager Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov's account.

Team Spirit did end up losing the game against MOUZ but Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidyonov attributed this defeat to a problem with communication and not due to the issue with Mira’s account.

Mira Had to Play From a Different Dota 2 Account Following Unexpected Steam Ban During 1win Series Dota 2 Spring

1win Series Dota 2 Spring was the first edition of the tournament and eight teams were handpicked by the organizers to battle it out for a prize pool of $100,000 USD.

On the opening day of the tournament, Team Spirit was set to battle against MOUZ to start things off on a positive note. 

Soon after the match started everyone realized that Mira was not playing in the match. In his place, it was Spirit's team manager Korb3n who was seemingly in the position four role.

As much as it seemed like that was the case, it was not, the position four player was indeed Mira just operating from his manager's account because of an unexpected ban he had received earlier that day.

During a recent livestream on Twitch, Korb3n while engaging in a conversation with Team Spirit's fans and followers, talked about what happened behind the scenes that led to Mira using his account. 

He explained that Mira had received a community ban earlier that day on his Steam account and emphasized that it was not a VAC ban. He added that a wave of similar bans had taken place earlier that day and it was not just MIra who had faced this issue. 

Korb3n further stated, “In a community ban, online games don't work. You log into them, but you don't connect to servers, and we have an official match... And Valve is at four in the morning, so they can't solve this problem quickly.”

To resolve this problem Korb3n shared that they had to act quickly and said, “We contacted people close to Valve, explained the situation that Mira couldn't play from his smurf. Because smurfs are prohibited. As a result, we agreed that he would play this game from my account, so I provided them with my Steam ID. It was official. So, an official match from someone else's account.”

Mira soon recovered his account after the opening day and was seen playing official games with his main account later in the tournament.

Following the disastrous start on the opening day, Team Spirit recovered itself in the tournament and beat 1win to avoid elimination and also avenged itself by beating MOUZ to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. 

However, it lost against Virtus.pro in a 2-0 series whitewash and had to fight Team Liquid for the third-place finish which it won with a 2-1 scoreline.
