With multiple experienced players and combinations tried over the past few years, Nigma Galaxy decided to go with two young professionals Yuma "Yuma" Langlet and Kasra "Mikey" Mesbah in preparation for the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 3: Division II. In the team’s first game of the tournament, it came out winning, defeating Ancient Tribe 2-0. A brief explanation of the addition of Yuma and Mikey was provided by offlaner Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov following the victory. Besides being high-ranked, MinD_ContRoL also mentioned Mikey's recent stand-in stint with Shopify Rebellion and his time with Yuma as key reasons that contributed to Nigma’s decision.
MinD_ContRoL explains why Yuma and Mikey were added to Nigma Galaxy
When MinD_ContRoL was interviewed after the victory over Ancient Tribe, he explained how he had seen Yuma mature as a player having known him for years, and how Mikey's short stay at Shopify convinced Nigma to invest in these two players.
“There are many reasons but one of the reasons is that they are high ranked players and I know Yuma for a very long time actually. I used to play party games actually, years ago. We are Dota friends for a long time and I see his potential. He proved he is not just a casual public player anymore and he actually has the competitive drive.
And about Mikey, everyone saw his potential when he played for Shopify. He looked very very hot. So, I think these are the main reasons we chose to play with them.”
Mikey, a pubstar, had filled in for Abed "Abed" Yusop in the midlane for Shopify during DreamLeague Season 19. Despite having minimal competitive experience, Mikey had given some outstanding performances, notably on Invoker, and helped Shopify finish third.
With the new roster in place, MinD_ContRoL also said during the interview that the team is eager to once again find form and be in top condition after a prolonged period of lackluster results.
“Our main goal right now is to gain our form. We want to be in top shape as a team. We want to play stable good Dota. We just want to improve everything we can. We want to get back to Division I for sure. We feel we deserve a spot there. If we fight well, of course, we need to show it and prove that we can.”
Nigma Galaxy will next meet Ivy on 11th June as part of the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 3: Division II. The team will also be trying to improve its form to head to the crucial qualifiers for The International 12 (TI12) in a few weeks with the right momentum.
