JT- of Invictus Gaming Also Tests Positive for COVID-19 Right Before TI10

COVID-19 is beginning to pose a serious threat to the International 10 (TI10) as another participant has tested positive for the virus. Thiay "JT-" Jun Wen, the offlaner for Invictus Gaming (IG), has contracted the virus according to a statement released by the organization. The Chinese team has stated that JT-'s second test, which was conducted after he complained of fever on the morning of 29th Sept 2021, saw him test positive. Further, the organization noted that its staff members tested negative and that JT- had been placed in isolation. This presents a worrying picture for the teams in Bucharest, Romania who are bootcamping for TI10. Prior to this, Team Aster had informed that a number of its members had tested positive for the virus.

According to the official statement issued by the Chinese organization, when Invictus Gaming conducted its PCR tests on 28th Sept 2021, it noted that all of its members' results were negative. However, since JT- had started feeling under the weather the next day, he underwent a second round of testing and tested positive.

As a result, JT- is undergoing self-isolation while recovering from COVID-19 and the other members are to undergo their second PCR test tomorrow, Invictus Gaming stated. The organization will continue to provide updates on the matter.

The positive case comes after the announcement earlier today that three Team Aster players, namely Du "Monet" Peng, Lin "Xxs" Jing, and Ye "Borax" Zhibiao (aka "BoBoKa") and two staff members were positive for COVID-19. In its statement, Team Aster had reassured fans by stating that everyone who had tested positive was either "asymptomatic" or "mildly ill."

Including JT-, there are now six members of TI10’s Chinese contingent who are positive for the virus.

Additionally, Team Aster's support player, Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng, took to Weibo earlier today to communicate the issues his team was encountering in the bootcamp which is reportedly organized by PGL. The bootcamp, he alleged, lacked basic necessities like food and water. In the end, he had deleted most of his posts and replaced them with one that stated that medications for the infected had been arranged and that all players were practicing self-isolation.

These positive cases are emerging during a time of a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Romania. The two organizers behind TI10, Valve, and PGL have not made any official statements on the matter. TI10 is scheduled to be held from 7th-17th Oct 2021.
