Updated: JerAx Removed From Evil Geniuses’ Roster in Valve’s Majors Registration Page
Update: Evil Geniuses has confirmed that it has parted ways with JerAx heading into Tour 3 of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit 2021/22.
Original story:
Jesse "JerAx Vainikka has parted ways with Evil Geniuses, according to the information displayed on Valve’s Majors Registration page. The two-time TI champion departs from the Evil Geniuses’ roster after competing with the team for six months.
This roster change for the North American team takes place after it finished in last-place in the ongoing ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, which saw them finish the event with no DPC points and no prize winnings. Evil Geniuses has not made any official announcement on this roster change at the time of writing this article.
Valve’s Majors Registration Page Roster Change: JerAx Leaves Evil Geniuses
JerAx’s departure from Evil Geniuses comes after a relatively underwhelming stint as the team’s support player beginning in November 2021. The player had a rough start to his time with EG, dropping games to Tier 2 North American teams and was even brazenly called a “Clown” by Samuel "Sammyboy" Anderson. Even random pub players were slamming his performances at the beginning of the season.
However, the player managed to recover and improve his performances by a great deal in 2022. Evil Geniuses managed to claw themselves back into the upper echelons of North American Dota 2, securing a 2nd place finish in the NA DPC 2021/2022 Tour 1: Regional Finals. EG followed this up by winning the NA DPC 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I, seemingly returning to form.
Unfortunately, the team’s last place finish at the ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 has raised questions about the lineup and has seemingly opened up the possibility of a roster shuffle.
Evil Geniuses’ roster after JerAx’s departure is:
Artour "Arteezy" Babaev
Abed Azel "Abed" L. Yusop
Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko
Andreas Franck "Cr1t-" Nielsen
Valve’s rules stipulate that players can be removed from team rosters only until May 24th. However, teams can add players to their lineups until May 29th. Evil Geniuses will incur a 15% DPC points penalty for making this roster change, bringing down its points tally to 552.5 DPC points.
