The current offlaner of Bleed Esports, Daryl "iceiceice" Koh, recently shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko's actions during the Bali Major 2023. In a recent livestream, iceiceice acknowledged the rule violation but questioned the severity of the punishment imposed on Pure.

The incident is regarding BetBoom’s offlane player Pure, who was seen using the alt+tab function at the Bali Major 2023 during a pause in his game against Tundra Esports, where he watched Aleksandr "Nix" Levin’s livestream of the tournament.

Iceiceice believes Pure did not have any intention to cheat

During a recent livestream, iceiceice shared his viewpoint on the situation, highlighting that during extended pauses in the game, players can become bored and may tab out or engage in other activities.

While he acknowledged that Pure broke the rules by tabbing out to watch a livestream, iceiceice suggested that the severity of the punishment may not align with Pure's intentions. He expressed his belief that intention matters, emphasizing that Pure did not have any intention to cheat but rather may have been distracted or bored.

“Yeah if the game was paused for like 40 minutes, you're bored, you tab out, chill and stuff. Sometimes you’re in the middle of the tournament and you kind of forget about it. Yeah it's like, you forget about sh*t. you broke the rules, it happens. I mean the punishment was kind of harsh to be honest because his intention wasn't to cheat right and I think intention matters a lot, at least to me right. If his intention was just like he’s bored, he tabs out. I have no f*cking idea why you go to a livestream of your game when you're playing that game right <laughs>. Maybe he’s like a dumb mother f*cker, what would I know? But he definitely has like zero intention of trying to cheat,” he said.

The Pure Drama at the Bali Major

The controversy surrounding Pure arose when he was spotted watching a livestream of the tournament during a pause in the match between BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports. The official broadcast clip showed Pure switching windows using the Alt+Tab function, indicating that the stream was already open in the background.

This violation of the Bali Major 2023 rules, specifically related to internet access and information abuse, resulted in BetBoom Team incurring a default loss in their upper bracket series against Tundra Esports, leading to the team dropping to the lower bracket and subsequent loss and elimination from the tournament.

Iceiceice's perspective on the Pure drama provides the player’s own opinion as another participant of the event. While acknowledging the rule violation, iceiceice questions the severity of the punishment, noting that Pure's intentions were not rooted in cheating.
