The newly recruited offlaner of Team SMG Daryl "iceiceice" Koh has been spending a lot of time interacting with Twitch livestreams since news was confirmed of the team missing the qualifier for The International 11 (TI11) due to an organizational error. It was during one of these recent broadcasts that iceiceice joked about how he may end up in Evil Geniuses for TI11, in Singapore, if its offlaner Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko does not attend the event for some reason. In case this scenario actually occures, two members of Evil Geniuses' team would know they could rely on him for help, iceiceice noted.
Iceiceice explains how he could play for Evil Geniuses at TI11
Iceiceice shall be missing his second TI in a decade-long Dota 2 career, and he has certainly been upset. However, as a jolly individual, he passed a humorous statement about how he was still a potential candidate for TI11.
According to iceiceice, he will sit on his hands and hope that Nightfall does not compete at TI11. When such a situation worsens due to visa and time restrictions, Evil Geniuses' position four player Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen would be aware that iceiceice, a Singaporean and former Evil Geniuses member, needs to be contacted.
Furthermore, he implied that Evil Geniuses' midlaner Abed "Abed" Yusop would be glad to have him back given Nightfall's playstyle.
“I am just gonna sit here and hope that something happens to the EG offlaner, Nightfall, and they can not get anyone with a visa in time and you know, Cr1t- knows who to call. I’ll be like - Abed bro, salamat salamat. Yeah, Nightfall falling down and Abed would be like: Thank god man, I got ice back. I can finally farm some shit on the map. I don’t have to run around anymore, I get to farm.” said Iceiceice.
Iceiceice probably made this comment since Nightfall is comparatively a greedier offlane player, presumably because he switched to it from the carry position. Therefore, Abed currently takes on more playmaking responsibilities in the midlane for Evil Geniuses.
Iceiceice has certainly undergone a tough couple of months, with him even admitting during a recent livestream that this is the worst Dota 2 year of his life. He was originally removed from Team Secret after Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok took his place, and he then got disqualified from TI11's Southeast Asia (SEA) regional qualifier after joining Team SMG. Team SMG failed to register the new roster before the deadline.
Since TI11 is taking place in Singapore, it remains to be seen whether iceiceice will attend the event in any other capacity besides as a player.
