On 21st December, OG ended its partnership with prominent Dota 2 streamer and creator Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski. Notably, this was Gorgc’s second time under the OG banner after he had a short, seven-month contract with the organization in 2020. Following his sudden release from OG as its official streamer and content creator, Gorgc took to Twitch to share how he was taken aback by the announcement. He also talked about why OG could have made this decision. Gorgc eventually ended on a positive note, giving a special shoutout to Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Johan "N0tail" Sundstein for treating him well during his time with OG.
Gorgc Reflects on OG Ending His Contract
OG took to X to announce the release of Gorgc as its official streamer. It wrote, “We created unforgettable moments together this year. Also, thank you for finally teaching Ceb how to use Twitch chat. Farewell & thank you for everything my streamer @Gorgc.”.
While Gorgc acknowledged that it was a six-month contract with OG, he noted that he was still surprised at the news of his release. He said that he hadn’t received a single complaint from the organization about his content and also noted that he was raking in double the amount of expected viewers. He also took credit for coming up with the idea of 'The Monkey Business Hub' in Lisbon during The International 2023.
Talking about OG's decision, he further said, “It was a functional relationship, I thought. But caught me a little bit by surprise. It wasn’t really much to talk about. Maybe they had budget changes, maybe they had something. I was like ‘Alright, there’s not much I could do, I guess!’”
He assured his fans that the content he delivers won’t be affected by this and threw in the idea of another stream similar to The Monkey Business Hub at N0tail’s house during next year’s TI (The International 2024).
Gorgc added that he does not “dislike” anybody in OG. He also recalled his “beef” with OG CEO, J. M. R. Luna in 2020 but assured that it was not the reason for the end of collaboration this time around. He noted, “It is what it is. I suspect, frankly, that they f**** up the deal to begin with. They didn’t know what to do with me. They couldn’t monetize me properly.”
Gorgc speculated that OG might have made a mistake with the deal, further revealing that he was going to sign with another organization. However, OG came in last minute and offered 10% more to seal the deal. “I think they kind of like made a rash decision when they first invited me and now, six months later, they are like, ‘Oh sh*t! We don't know what to do,’ you know,” he added.
As closing thoughts, the streamer chimed in about how it is nice to have an organization backing one up since it is really difficult to get sponsors.
