Gorgc says Faker's earnings as a League of Legends pro is equal to a noob in Dota 2.
Comparing the achievements of a Dota 2 player with similar tournament earnings showed a huge disparity between the two game titles.

During a recent Twitch stream, Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski commented on Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok’s tournament winnings after his chat room suggested that Faker earns more money in his career compared to a TI (The International) winner. Gorgc didn't want to believe this and checked the net worth and tournament earnings of Faker. Looking at the tournament winnings which amounted to $1.4 Million USD, Gorgc called it a “Dota noob’s earnings.”

Gorgc Talks About Faker’s Tournament Earnings & Annual Salary

Gorgc said, “Tournament earnings only 1.4. Dude if you had 1.4 million tournament earnings in Dota you're literally a noob compared to like TI winners.” The streamer also expressed amazement at Faker's reported annual salary of $5 Million USD, highlighting the significant figures gained via sponsorships and other avenues.

Faker is unanimously called the most famous League of Legends player in the world. He plays for T1 and recently won the League of Legends World Championship 2023, a TI equivalent competition for League of Legends. He has won Worlds four times and came in second place twice. Notably, he has also won the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) twice, a tournament similar to the DPC Major, and came in second place twice. After all these victories, according to Liquipedia, Faker has amassed $1,545,976 in tournament winnings to date.

According to Esports Earnings, a website dedicated to tracking the earnings of esport players from different game titles, Faker stands at 77th place with a total tournament winnings of $1,570,297.75. Below is a table showing his top five tournament earnings from League of Legends.

At 78th place on the website is Dota 2 pro Ren "old eLeVeN" Yangwei with a total tournament winnings of $1,568,475.37. old eLeVeN is well known for his time during his tenure at EHOME. He came close to winning The International in 2017 with LGD Gaming, which ended the tournament in 4th place.

Below is a table showing his top five tournament earnings from Dota.

The table comparison clearly shows the disparity in the prize pool of the two games. It iterates the fact that Dota 2 has the largest prize pools in all of esports. A player may not have achieved the pinnacle of Dota 2 championships but would have still earned enough money that can be compared to the greatest players of other game titles.
